NAP – Best selection of the evening
Newcastle 3.25 Alhammaam (4/5)
Caught the eye finishing third behind the right horses on debut for this yard; improved to chase home a progressive horse last time; more to come now and looks hard to oppose down in trip here; sure to go close.
I know ALHAMMAAM isn’t much of a price but that’s with good reason and he looks to have a great opportunity of making the breakthrough. He shaped well on debut for this yard behind Under The Twilight and Lord Lovelace and stepped forward from that to chase home Internationalangel last time. That filly won her next start impressively so the form has been franked since. He goes back in trip here to 6f but doesn’t lack speed and should have too much for these. Blackjack made a bright start winning on debut over C&D at a massive price. He will find this tougher under a 6lb penalty against a horse with as much potential as the fav though. Canzone was a good second latest so is best of the rest.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS AT AYR ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON!
Ayr 1.40 Bill Baxter (15/8)
Shaped with a great deal of promise when second to a useful horse at Ffos Las on return; improved to open his account over hurdles here last time and promises to be even better suited by this longer trip; big chance.
There was lots to like about the way BILL BAXTER found off the bridle to prevail here last time. He is only going to improve and this step up in trip is firmly in his favour too. I don’t think this will be easy but I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t go close. Nells Son won at Kelso last time and looks the obvious danger. Salvino was second to the selection last time and might end up best of the rest. He was well held behind Nells Son prior to that as well so however you break it down he looks readily held by the top 2 in the betting here. Half Track is unexposed and was staying on behind the fav last time so also has to enter calculations but I just think he’ll need more time to be seen to best effect.
