Hereford 12.45

Gary Moore is still operating at a 25% strike rate in the past fortnight and he looks to have a great chance of another winner in the opener at Hereford on Tuesday. LEGAL RIGHTS won with a bit to spare at Fontwell on Boxing Day and turned out fairly quickly under a penalty he should go close with Niall Houlihan claiming a handy 3lb again. He travelled notably well that day and a repeat of that would definitely see him firmly in the mix here.

The danger is probably the mare Brilliant Present for Nicky Henderson who is trading as favourite at the time of writing. She has been a work in progress so far but shaped better when fourth to Earth Company at Taunton and an opening mark of 104 could be lenient up in trip so she is definitely noted. Merry Mistress best of the rest and should grab a place at a nice price.

Hereford 1.15

This doesn’t look the best Juvenile Maiden Hurdle and KRYPTON GOLD will take some beating if putting his last run behind him. He jumped right-handed through out which cost him so much ground. Hereford is a right-handed track so it should suit him. If running to the level of his hurdles debut he will take all the beating and I’m pleasantly surprised to see him around the 6/1 mark at the time of writing.

Line Of Descent was the best of these on the Flat and could be better than his hurdling debut suggested so could be dangerous here. Winterwatch on his debut for Harry Fry could be interesting as he was also above average on the Flat winning twice from just 6 starts.

Hereford 1.45

14 head to post for this and it is definitely one of the more competitive races of the day at Hereford. It’s hard to get away from SCARPIA for Nicky Henderson. He is lightly raced for his age and ran a really good race beaten less than a length by Earth Lord at Ascot last month. That looked a good race and he is entitled to come on for it with the step up in trip also likely to suit. He should be ridden just tucked off the pace and will get a nice toe in before looking to pounce late.

There are plenty of dangers with Theme Tune expected to run better here. He jumped poorly on return so if coming on for that and proving more efficient over his hurdles he could run well at a price. Mr Washington remains in great form and also has to enter the reckoning. It’s hard not to see him involved at the business end.

Hereford 2.15

Calico ran quite well when second over hurdles at Lingfield last month. He overcame a mid-race error to launch a challenge late but in hindsight raced on the dead part of the track and was never going the pace to overhaul Hudson De Grugy. He has potential now sent chasing but I do worry about his jumping at times so he would need a clear round to be a player here as it looks a good race.

NOTEBOOK is the one I want to side with for Emma Lavelle. He failed to finish himself at Ascot last month but I’m willing to forgive him that blip given how well he ran when denied a neck by Witness Protection at Chepstow. He remains open to plenty of improvement in this sphere and can get back on track here. Call Me Lord didn’t convince at Uttoxeter so Pure Bliss may be the danger if she can improve again.

Hereford 2.50

Maximum field of 16 set to line up for this and it looks as competitive as it sounds. LEGEND OF ZORRO is worth an each way play here on his first run after a wind-op. He has been running well without ever being a threat but he may improve for the wind-op. He is back down to his last winning mark and could easily outrun his price. He is a 9yo now but is fairly lightly raced for his age so that wouldn’t concern me.

Loch Garman Aris is a bigger price than I thought and will be a danger to all based on his most recent form. He is a 12 year old but seems to be thriving. Family Pot has clocked some decent speed figures so it another one that could go well and off his proper mark this time.

Hereford 3.20

Not a bad maiden with the top 2 in the market looking pretty solid with the preference for I SPY A DIVA who struggled going left-handed at Stratford and was pulled up so she should be a different prospect at this track. She lost out by a nose on hurdles debut at Huntingdon. That was her first run after a break so she should have plenty more to come and can go well here.

Good Luck Charm has good form in the national hunt flat sphere and is very interesting on hurdles debut. The best of his form would see him go close if taking to hurdles. Dancing Dani could be a danger on the best of her form but is very hit and miss. She has been largely overlooked in the betting at the time of writing as well which is a bit off-putting.

Hereford 3.50

I’m not sure why I didn’t side with NOCTE VOLATUS at Catterick last time as he had the race at his mercy when falling at Market Rasen and quickly rewarded followers at Catterick last month, winning head in chest. He is unpenalised for that given it was a conditional jockeys’ event and with 10lb claimer Dylan Kitts keeping the ride all looks in place for another big run. He is open to further improvement over fences and really should prove too good for these if in the same form.

Galtee Mountain is my idea of the horse to chase him home. He probably needs to jump better but he is gaining experience all the time and the cheekpieces going back on should help. Jobesgreen Lad won at Ludlow last time and if he repeats that he should also be in the mix as well.
