This doesn’t look like the best juvenile hurdle but it is a competitive one. STAND STAUNCH gets the narrow vote after putting together a couple of good runs in Ireland before joining the Alison Hamilton yard. He should have improved for those runs and I expect a big run on his British debut. Hopefully we see a bit of money in the betting as that could be a good pointer.
Tommaso ran a good race on hurdles debut and would be a big threat if in the same form but has run poorly since. Kayfast Warrior won a nice race over course and distance last time and is the main danger but he does have to carry a penalty and is a shade of odds-on which looks short enough.

Given Carlow Farmer has won by an impressive 9 lengths since that Haydock win is looking very strong form for NOTEBOOK. Even the third Ned Tanner who was slammed 28 lengths by the selection won next time out. He beat Famous Bridge who I think looks a nice horse so the form stacks up wherever you look. That was his first run over 3 miles so he remains open to further improvement and I’m surprised the traders have installed him at 7/4 as I envisaged him being a lot shorter.
Even having said all that this isn’t a given as My Last Oscar won nicely at Lingfield before being let down by his jumping last time. If he puts in a cleaner round he could pose a threat. To Be Sure remains quite lightly raced but really blew out at Aintree so a bounce back is definitely called for here.

This looks like a quality handicap with 4 or 5 of these in with good chances. GERYVILLE gets the nod here after two very good runs at the track. He was second over 3 miles last time following a very good win over 2 and half miles on his first run over here. He is pretty unexposed and will take all the beating back down to this trip for trainer Micky Hammond.
Grand Turina is going for her hat-trick at the grand old age off 11 and is clear favourite for this. She won this race with a 10lb claimer onboard and without his claim it might not be as easy as the market suggests but she is still a danger to all. Guetapan Collonges and Cooper’s Cross are both big players and will likely have a say on their recent form.

This is competitive but I think GLOBAL AGREEMENT could be a decent bet at the prices. This son of Mayson found just enough to make a winning return at Lingfield last month with the front pair nicely clear and backed that up going down just half a length to a subsequent winner at Fontwell next time. He is off the same mark and should have every chance with Kevin Jones claiming a valuable 3lb.
Wor Verge also arrives at the top of his game chasing a hat-trick and looks the danger up another 5lb. Top weight in this ground might be a tough ask though. Balkardy also arrives in winning form and up just 4lb deserves a mention as could run another big race.
Wetherby 3.05
Tough race to call with none of these obviously well handicapped. BOAGRIUS has been running in better races than this recently and based on his second at Bangor he should be right in the mix at this level. He has been given a chance by the handicapper now down to 111 having won off higher marks previously and should run a big race if his jumping holds up.
Relkadam is a former course and distance winner and looks as though he is turning a corner so running him back at 2 miles could make him a danger. Donladd is edging into favourite at the time of writing but he still has to prove himself over fences and might need more experience.
Wetherby 3.35
A tricky bumper to conclude but a chance is taken on the Kim Bailey-trained IMPERIAL HURRICANE. This Black Sam Bellamy gelding cost €38,000 and is related to some decent types. This doesn’t look an overly strong race so I think he’ll be good enough to take a hand. A lot of it is guesswork though so the market can often prove informative and in these sorts of races you can often get big upsets.
Bolton is fav for Rebecca Menzies and he made an encouraging start when third at Newcastle. If he builds on that he should go close. Burrow Seven represents a good cause so I’ll be hoping Oakley Brown can get a tune out of him as well but he will need to improve from that debut fifth. This stiffer track should help at least.
