Ascot 1.50

The majority of these arrive here with something to prove so I think it’s a great chance for DOES HE KNOW to get back to winning ways. He ran out an impressive winner on chase debut beating the progressive Threeunderthrufive and backed that up at Cheltenham in October. He didn’t do a lot wrong when second when last seen in November and freshened up since this looks a very winnable assignment. He remains lightly raced so has scope to improve further and I think he’ll pick these off in the closing stages.

The danger looks to be Corach Rambler who won at Aintree and Cheltenham before struggling up in trip at Warwick. This looks more manageable and he should return to form and give the selection a race. Annual Invictus looked promising earlier in the season but has a bit to prove now but probably still best of the rest.

Haydock 2.05

This doesn’t look bad renewal of the Rendlesham with two previous winners of the race in the field. It could pay to side with the improving MOLLY OLLYS WISHES though as she looks like she may have a fair bit to offer a this trip. She won well at Ascot last month and likely had plenty in the tank that day. If she improves again she will win this getting weight from all her rivals.

Thomas Darby is the highest rated in the field and will bebop danger on his best form. He is hard to get right with plenty of good runs but not many wins to show for it and the weight he gives to the selection could be significant.

Ascot 2.25

I have no doubt FIDDLERONTHEROOF is the class-act in here and I fancy him to carry top-weight to victory. Connections must have been targeting this after he finished second to Cloudy Glen in the Ladbrokes Trophy and freshened up since he should prove hard to beat under Brendan Powell.

Ask Me Early brings potential to the table but he has enough to find with the selection and his first preference is Wincanton so that leaves Hold That Taught as the most likely danger. He landed a gamble winning over fences at Carlisle before finding the Welsh National too taxing. He struggled again last time and is 3lb out the weights but his light weight might see him go close with his yard firing.

Haydock 2.40

This looks like a cracking renewal of the Grand National Trial and it will certainly be a test in the forecast conditions. SECRET REPRIEVE is a worthy favourite with some top form in handicaps at this level. He won the Welsh National last year and but struggled to follow up in this years renewal. He didn’t have a run going into the latest renewal and should be a lot sharper for that run. He is still lightly race for a horse of his quality and should go very well.

Sam Brown is the danger based on the form of his run behind Royal Pagaille which looks some of the best recent form. He handles the track and ground and will be a threat to all if seeing out the extra distance. Bristol De Mai is interesting in a handicap but top weight in these conditions is a massive ask.

Ascot 3.00

Stepping up in trip I can see NOTEBOOK getting off the mark over hurdles. He looked a very useful horse in the making winning bumpers at Cheltenham and Newbury and he has been a work in progress so far over timber. He needed the experience on debut in this sphere when second at Chepstow and then bumped into Jonbon at Newbury. He shaped best going down just a neck at Warwick and with this extra yardage firmly in his favour he can go one better now. He is open to further improvement and I think he’ll be a warm order come post time.

Cap Du Mathan was impressive at Taunton but this is tougher and I actually think Zacony Rebel will emerge as the main danger. He has won 2 of his last 3 and should also appreciate stepping up in trip now.

Wincanton 3.20

On ratings this looks a match and as much as I love Adagio it just seems the ideal conditions for GOSHEN to win this race for the 2nd year in-a-row. He won last years renewal on similar ground by 22 lengths and based on his recent form their is no reason he shouldn’t back it up. He ran a cracker behind Brewin’upastorm before blitzing the field at Sandown last time. If he is on his best behaviour he wins.

Adagio will be a danger and take advantage of any of Goshen’s quirk but likely still has to improve again to beat Goshen at his best. It should be cracking race to watch.

Ascot 3.38

This is a cracking renewal but FAKIR D’OUDAIRIES gets a confident vote to come out on top. He is a classy sort who has the best form on offer having hacked up at Aintree last year. He was a very good second to Allaho last month at Thurles and with nobody like that rival in here he should take full advantage. He is a slick and efficient jumper who should travel strongly off a good pace before picking them up.

The danger looks to be Mister Fisher who beat Eldorado Allen in a Grade 2 at Kempton last month. If his jumping holds out he should run a nice race. Saint Calvados also has to enter calculations but I’m still not convinced Paul Nicholls is firing on all fronts.
