NAP – Best selection of the evening
Leopardstown 2.30 Whiskey Sour (5/6)
Smart hurdler who was back to his best finishing third to Darasso in the Limestone Lad Hurdle at Naas when last seen; won at this track before; great opportunity for him to finally get back in the winners enclosure.
With Willie Mullins hitting somewhat of a purple patch WHISKEY SOUR is hard to get away from in the Anton O’Toole Hurdle at Leopardstown on Sunday. He is a very smart hurdler on his day and that was a very solid run when third to Darasso in the Limestone Lad Hurdle back in January. He is top-rated here and gets a 5lb pull from the second in the betting Wolf Prince. The latter is out of form so has enough to prove to grab this prize. I think Bua Boy could be a greater danger as while he wasn’t seen to best effect at Cheltenham his previous form looks useful so he could pose a threat to the favourite. Gallant John Joe also deserves a mention back over hurdles here.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS OVER JUMPS AT HUNTINGDON ON SUNDAY!
Huntingdon 1.45 Chambard (11/8)
Finished like a rocket denied just a head at Ludlow on penultimate start; put that right to win impressively at Fontwell; goes back up in trip now but been shaping as though he wants it; great chance to win again.
I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for CHAMBARD so it was good to see hm win so impressively at Fontwell last time off the back of that luckless second at Ludlow. He is a talented horse and when things drop right he is extremely hard to beat. He has to prove himself back up in trip but has been shaping as though it’ll suit and I think he will have too much for his two rivals. Storm Arising is a strong travelling sort and he could be the danger but he needs to prove he can put in a clear round of jumping after unseating at Newbury. He should have more to come over fences though so is expected to give the selection a race at least. Barnaviddaun has headgear on now and needs to show more.
