Doncaster 1.15

A tricky opener on ITV today with the Brocklesby featuring a whole field of unraced 2 year olds with plenty of potential. It is worth having a small each way bet in the race on BLATANT for last years winning trainer Eve Johnson Houghton. He looks well bred and the yard are pretty good with horses first time out. They aren’t the biggest yard so that is likely why he is a bigger price.

Persian Force will likely be very popular from the Hannon yard and the fact he cost €225,000. He certainly looks to have plenty of potential but not a play I want to have at a short price. The other one I think could be right in the mix is Kiss N Cuddle who is related to plenty of winners and will be ready to roll.

Kelso 1.35

Looking at this race there looks to be a standout in here providing Goodtimes Badtimes doesn’t run again on Saturday (won on Friday). SON OF THE SOMME has improved well over a stone since going handicapping. His handicap form reads 2212 with the seconds being by just a neck. He is raised 3lb for his latest second but still has so much potential and is the one to beat here.

The main danger looks to be Sheriff Garrett who really took a step forward on his last run and is a threat if in the same mood. At a much bigger price Demi Sang could outrun his odds back on a faster surface than his last run.

Doncaster 1.50

This looks a decent enough renewal with most of these able to go close on their best form. DILIGENT HARRY is a horse I really liked last year and was a tad unlucky not to have a few more wins to his name. He just lost out to Happy Romance in the Hackwood Stakes and a repeat of that run would probably make him the one to beat. He should step forward from 3 to 4 and I looking forward to following him this season. This drying ground is also a big plus.

Garrus is undoubtably the main danger after several massive runs in Group 1 company and has to be taken seriously here. The only reason he is passed over for the selection is I feel he might not have as much to come as a 6 year old. Bielsa is best of the rest and may well end up the value to chase the selection home.

Kempton 2.05

I’m confident FANCY MAN is going to take a great deal of beating for Richard Hannon and Thore Hammer Hansen here. This Pride Of Dubai colt did well on the grass as a 3yo and has matched that form on the AW winning readily on return at Lingfield last month. He certainly wasn’t disgraced when third in the Winter Derby behind Alenquer and Lord North and a similar run here could see him back in the winners enclosure. He holds a few of these already and I still think he has potential for more.

Felix hasn’t really developed into the horse connections would have hoped but he is still a live danger as even his form in defeat does stack up. Father Of Jazz might be the one to give the selection most to think about though as he goes well fresh and a first-time hood could help him settle a bit better. King Of The South and Al Zaraqaan are strictly held but are unlikely to be far away and might snatch a place at big prices.

Doncaster 2.25

9 runners head to post for the Spring Mile and this is fiercely competitive. I’m finding it hard to oppose EMPIRESTATEOFMIND though. His recent form figures of 211212 are hard to knock and if he is fit enough to do himself justice on return he could run huge. That second to Mujtaba may well look really good form if that horse goes on to win the Lincoln later this afternoon. He is open to further progress and this could easily be a case of there being value in a favourite at 7/2.

General Lee is a very decent yardstick so it’s no surprise to see him second in the betting. This Lope De Vega colt won 2 of his last 3 starts and that form beating Sky Power looks solid. Like the selection he could have more to come so will likely be involved. Mostawaa is also worth considering with SDS in the saddle now.

Kempton 2.40

I have no doubt that Bandinelli has another one of these races in him at least as he is unexposed over this trip but his previous form suggests he might just need the run and he is worth opposing with a bigger price. IMPERIUM comes from a yard that have targeted this race successfully a few times over the last few years and his close third at Newcastle last month should have him spot on to go very well here.

There are plenty of dangers including the favourite as mentioned. Moliwood stays really well and could have plenty more to offer over this trip and rates a big danger. Auriferous is being nibbled at in the betting and I couldn’t put you off as an each way play but he didn’t need to be at his best to win at Southwell and he isn’t the easiest of rides.

Doncaster 3.00

Chindit will likely prove all the rage here but I’m keen to play BOOSALA against. This son of Dawn Approach has only had the 6 starts winning 3 of them and I think this horse could have a lot more to come yet. He was denied a nose when last seen at Newcastle but I don’t think that test suited and back on turf here he is open to further improvement. He goes up to a mile for the first time and I like his price at 4/1. I feel he’s gone under the radar and he is one of the better value plays of the day.

It’s not just a two horse race though with Royal Champion also in with a chance. He looked an exciting prospect on debut and wasn’t disgraced when third at Newmarket. Things didn’t go to plan in the Dante but it remains early days and he could be in the shake-up too for a yard that have a good record in this race.

Kelso 3.15

This would be a wide open event if Henderson didn’t have THEATRE GLORY in here. She is 3 wins from just 4 starts with her defeat coming in a decent Listed event behind Elle Est Belle. She followed that up with a rout in a good Novice race by 9 lengths. Dropped into handicap company with a 7lb claimer on board it will take a brave person to oppose her and I think she could still be well ahead of her mark and would be disappointed if she was beaten.

The other handicap debutants in here look the main threats with Betty Baloo and Aliomaana both looking like potential improvers with Rae Des Champs likely best of the rest. Haseefah looked good winning at Market Rasen but has failed to back that up and has enough to prove on the balance of things.

Doncaster 3.35

This race has been won by a horse prominent in the betting for the last 3 years in Addeybb, Auxerre and Haqeeqy and I think that might be the case again with MUJTABA for William Haggas. He obviously won it back in 2018 with Addeybb and also in 2010 with Penitent and 2007 with Very Wise. He might have another exciting horse on his hands and this unbeaten son of Dubawi could prove up to the task. It’s hard to know how good he could be but visually he has really impressed and I rate the horse he slammed at Redcar. A mark of 98 shouldn’t be beyond him and if inexperience doesn’t cost him he is my idea of the winner.

Modern News brought up a hat-trick of wins back in October and ran well in defeat when third in Dubai last month up to Listed level. This step up to a mile will suit so he could be the danger. I do like one at a double-figure price in BRUNCH though. He looked good winning at Pontefract last summer and wasn’t disgraced behind Mostahdaf on final start at Sandown. He chased home Haqeeqy in this last year beaten just a length and a half and looks poised to run a big race again off just a 4lb higher mark here. Others to note include Saleymm for the Crisford’s and Darkness who is hard to assess.
