It’s the AW Championships from Lingfield and Newcastle on Good Friday. The AW Mile Championship looks a cracker with My Oberon looking to land the prize for William Haggas and Tom Marquand. Sleeping Lion is another one that should be hard to beat in the AW Marathon Championship.
NAP – Best selection of the evening
Chelmsford 4.30 Im Mable (7/4)
Cable Bay filly who has won 2 of her last 4 starts and had too much for Amasova over track and trip back in December; freshened up since a below par run at Southwell and hard to beat if she bounces back to her best.
It’s no surprise to see the money coming for IM MABLE here with Ryan Moore a notable jockey booking. She looked progressive winning impressively over C&D before a blip at Southwell. She has been freshened up since and is still likely capable of better so gets a confident vote to get back to winning ways. Blackcurrent and Eeh Bah Gum should give her a nice toe in and I think this will pan out perfectly. Amasova remains in good form and only went down a length and a quarter at Kempton last time. She looks the most likely danger but at the same time I’m struggling to see her reversing the form. Blackcurrent is also respected but if he gets softened up off the front that won’t help his chances.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS AT NEWCASTLE ON GOOD FRIDAY!
Newcastle 2.00 My Oberon (2/1)
Impressed making a winning return over this trip at Southwell and far from disgraced pitched into a Group 1 in Dubai last month; hard to beat if that hasn’t left a mark; will be ridden quietly before looking to pick them off.
This very much revolves around MY OBERON as his form is head and shoulders above the rest and he made an encouraging return winning over this trip at Southwell. He was thrown into the deep end in Dubai last month but was far from disgraced finishing sixth. As long as that hasn’t left a mark he should cut through this pack in the closing stages under Tom Marquand and he looks one of the safest plays of the day. New Bay colt La Tihaty is the one I expect to follow him home. He made it 4 wins in a row prior to blowing out at Wolverhampton last month. If he bounces back he should chase the favourite home. Amilcar should strip fitter following an encouraging run at Wolverhampton last month.
