Saturday’s Best Bets
DAILY DOUBLE LANDED YESTERDAY! Racing on Saturday from Newton Abbot, Carlisle, Musselburgh, Cork, Newbury, Fairyhouse, Haydock, Lingfield and Nottingham. Daily Double pays 12/1!
Tons to get stuck into on Saturday afternoon with the Greenham taking centre stage from Newbury. Hopefully we can follow up yesterday’s winning DD. Also coverage on ITV Racing from Musselburgh.
NAP – Best selection of the evening
Newbury 3.00 Perfect Power (2/1)
Smart colt who showed a good turn of foot to win the Group 1 Prix Morny at Deauville and followed that up with a convincing win in the Middle Park on final start as a 2yo; could be even better over this extra furlong.
It’s a shame we have just the 6 horses turning up for this with Coroebus heading straight to the Guineas now. With the latter out it looks a great chance for PERFECT POWER to make a winning return. This colt by Ardad reached a very high level last season and with potential to do even better over this extra furlong looks the one they all have to beat. Richard Fahey started the season a bit slow by his standards but the yard have started to pick up winners recently which is a good sign. Angel Bleu is the danger on form but he has to prove himself on this drying ground. That has to be a concern so it wouldn’t surprise me to see Flaming Rib run well and chase the selection home.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST WON YESTERDAY AND RUNS AT HAYDOCK ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON!
Haydock 3.52 Bavington Bob (7/2)
Likeable type who reached a decent level over hurdles but already looked a better chaser making it 4 in a row impressively at Kelso at the start of the month; 9lb higher but not done improving yet and sure to go well.
The 9lb rise and a quick turnaround still aren’t enough to put me off BAVINGTON BOB here. He has answered every call so far and was an impressive winner at Kelso last time. With the likes of Kap Auteuil, Quartz Du Rheu and even Enqarde to an extent there should be a good gallop on which will only help the selection travel into the race before hopefully proving the stronger at the business end. Musical Slave won at Sandown last month but the form is questionable and he’ll need more if he is to beat the selection. Tango Boy is less exposed than most so also has to enter calculations but again he will definitely need to take a step forward. Hughes has abandoned Breizh Alko for the fav.
