This is pretty open with it hard to split the top 3 in the market. GRANGEE though gets the narrow vote back down in trip. She stays on very well at the end of the and I was surprised she didn’t get the longer trip at Fairyhouse. Her best run to date was over this trip at Cheltenham behind Love Envoi beating Dinoblue and Party Central who are short prices than her here. If she is in the same form she has to go close.
Dinoblue was well backed for the Mares’ Novice Hurdle at Cheltenham and failed to get involved. She does have plenty more to come but it hard to be confident on her at a short price. Party Central could be a bigger danger back on quicker ground plus her good form at this level already.

Mullins has won 6 of the last 7 renewals of this race and it would take a brave man to say he isn’t going to take it again. He has the first two in the betting in SIR GERHARD and Dysart Dynamo and I’m struggling to look past the Ballymore winner. He is unbeaten over hurdles and should get a lovely toe in here off the latter. He has gears and is versatile regarding ground so I really don’t see any weaknesses.
I’m still a big fan of Dysart Dynamo but that was a heavy fall he took at Cheltenham and I don’t think they’ll be overly taxing on him. I can see him running well and making a race of it and still coming off second best.
A very open race with a lot of the best form looking like it comes from the Fairyhouse meeting 10 days ago. That isn’t a huge turnaround for horse in big handicaps so favour ARDLA who has been saved for this race. He has good form behind horses such as Grand Jury and Banbridge and really appeals off of a mark of 125. He only carries 10-5 and I think he can prove he is better than his current mark.
From the races at Fairyhouse Glan who won one of the big handicaps and Eskylane who came 5th in the same race are the main dangers if ready to go again.
Punchestown 5.25
With Shishkin pulling up early it would have been disappointing if ENERGUMENE didn’t go on to win the Champion Chase but even still he ended up pulling 8 and a half lengths clear and was pretty impressive. I still get the feeling we haven’t seen the best of him either so I think he’ll have too much for stablemate Chacun Pour Soi. The latter unseated Patrick Mullins when in the process of running a big race but will still need more here to beat the younger legs of Energumene.
Envoi Allen ran well when third behind the selection but it’s hard to see him closing that gap. Andy Dufresne was gambled like a good thing for the Grand Annual but found Global Citizen too strong. He could run well but this is a big ask so early on.
Punchestown 6.00
Gordon Elliott has a really good record in this race and he runs a very exciting horse in CALDWELL POTTER. He is the brother to Mighty Potter who runs earlier on the card and is clearly very good sort. If he proves to be anywhere near as good as him he will go close here.
Willie Mullins like Gordon Elliott has plenty of winners in this race and Rocco Bay is likely going to be a threat to most of these being related to some nice horses. Of the horses that have had a run Irish Envoy could run another huge race after winning on debut.
Punchestown 6.35
I was all over BOB OLINGER at Cheltenham and while we got fortunate with Galopin Des Champs coming down I don’t think he was at his best and he is still learning his trade over fences. The engine is clearly there and I’m expecting a much sharper performance here. He is unbeaten over fences and gets crabbed more than he should. He looks a cut above this field and I think he’ll win it well.
The danger is likely Capodanno who wasn’t disgraced when fourth to L’homme Presse in the Brown Advisory. If he jumps slicker he should chase the favourite home. Fury Road travelled strongly before finding Ahoy Senor too strong at Aintree and also has to be respected off the back of that.
Punchestown 7.10
This doesn’t look a deep race and is likely between the two at the top of the market, GOOD BYE SAM and De Nordener. The former is the favourite for the race after winning at Tramore even after a few mistakes. His class likely carried him through that and he will be much more suited to this track over Tramore which can be tricky. He could be class above these and will take some beating.
De Nordener makes his first start under rules after two P2P wins and has to be respected for Edna Bolger who specialises in this sort of race. He should go well but could find the selection too good. Of the rest Vital Island could be good enough to get involved with a trouble free round of jumping.
Punchestown 7.45
Mullins hasn’t won this since 2016 with Cilaos Emery so he’ll be keen to bag the prize this time around and has the favourite in LISNAGAR FORTUNE. He is a half-brother to Lisnagar Oscar and looks to have plenty of potential on paper. Obviously a bit of a guessing game but with Patrick in the saddle he looks a leading hope for them here with stablemate Vadsa Queen also a bit of an eye-catcher breeding-wise.
Walk In The Park gelding Firm Footings is also a promising horse on paper being related to 5 winners and also has to enter calculations. As always with these types of races the market is likely to prove informative.
