Race 7 Churchill Downs 6.56 Jack Christopher (6/4)

Exciting colt who blew the opposition away creating a big impression winning by over 8 lengths on debut; quickly pitched in a Grade 1 and made no mistake making it a perfect 2-2; more to come and can win again.

Some superb racing Stateside tonight and I can’t wait to see JACK CHRISTOPHER out again. He was 2-2 as a 2yo and looks set to bring up the hat-trick on return. He is a very exciting horse and he should prove too good for this field before being targeted at bigger prizes down the line. My Prankster was fourth behind the selection on his second start but has gone on to reach a decent level of form and may end up being the one to chase him home. Pappacap has been highly tried and has to be respected too as is largely consistent. Major General has only had the 4 runs and won his first two starts so could be another one involved for a place. Expect the fav to go forward and it’s unlikely they’ll get to him.

Race 5 Churchill Downs 5.36 Speak Of The Devil (7/4)

Classy mare who won her final two starts in France and looks set to reach a decent level Stateside; this a very winnable assignment so should prove hard to beat if bringing her best form to the table tonight.

I’m pretty confident SPEAK OF THE DEVIL can compete at the top level Stateside in time so this looks a good starting point in a Grade 2. The trainer has the top 2 in the betting and could easily have a 1-2 here hopefully in the right order. In Italian is on a four-timer and looks a promising filly herself but the selection should be a lot more streetwise and battle hardened and I fancy her to get the better of the argument tonight. Lady Speightspeare ran well when third at the top level last time and also has to enter calculations. Flower Point is quite a big price but I guess this is a step up on what she has been facing lately so will likely demand a career best to just get involved.
