Race 7 Gulfstream Park 9.23 Living Water (7/4)

Promising colt who has been competing in better races than this recently on turf; remains open to further improvement and no surprise if he is always dominating here as certainly has the class to take it out.

I tried to go for slightly bigger prices on our best bets Stateside last night but it didn’t really work out. Hopefully we can get the US NAP back firing tonight as we head to Gulfstream Park. LIVING WATER is expected to take a sizeable step forward now back on a synthetic surface. He has been running well without getting his head in front and remains largely unexposed. This looks winnable and he has been mixing it with better horses so in these calmer waters I expect him to push forward and see them off. The danger will likely come from Starting Up who won well on penultimate start before going down 3 lengths last time. He needs to find more but should at least keep the favourite honest.

Race 9 Woodbine 10.30 Dictate (2/1)

Tough mare who went down all guns blazing when last seen beaten less than a length over this track and trip; given time to mature again since and unexposed after just a handful of starts; go close.

This looks a great opportunity for DICTATE to make a winning return. This is the easiest company she would have faced and it will be disappointing if she doesn’t prove the answer. She goes well over this C&D and there really aren’t too many weaknesses. She has speed to lead so may well push on early and look to stretch them out. Erasmo’s Girl is the closest in the betting but she finished behind the selection here a few starts back and while she is the danger I’m struggling to see her reversing that as she might be younger but she is more exposed having been kept busy. Admonish could still have more to come and is quite a big price but with only 2 places on offer she might still finish out the frame.
