MY US NAP RUNS IN RACE 9 AT PHILADELPHIA ON MONDAY NIGHT!

Race 9 Philadelphia 9.31 Fortheluvofbourbon (11/8)

Tough sort who arrives here having won 2 of his last 3 starts and showed a great attitude to hold on over 7f here last time; cuts back a furlong in trip again and should have these rivals covered; worth keeping on side.

I’m expecting FORTHELUVOFBOURBON to make it 3 wins from his last 4. He was an impressive winner over C&D at this level 3 starts back and did well to win in a better race than this over 7f last month. Back down a furlong in trip it’s hard to see anything beating him in here given his current form. The danger is likely Admiral Abe who beat Smooth B over 5f here last summer. He hasn’t been at his best recently but if bouncing back on reappearance could have a say in the outcome. Smooth B has been running to a consistent level so also has to enter calculations. Press My Bets looks held on collateral form so will need to find more. Word On A Wing also has ground to make up with the favourite.

Race 3 Thistledown 6.50 Piper (6/4)

Progressive filly who is chasing a four-timer after winning head in chest over this trip last time; open to further improvement still so while this is slightly tougher obvious chance of saluting the judge; sure to go close.

The penny has really dropped for PIPER now and that was impressive last time. Freshened up since the four-timer very much looks on the cards now. She dictated throughout again last time and just kept fending them off. She crossed the line with a bit up her sleeve so I think she can take this slight step up in grade in her stride. Hard To Access also brings winning form to the table and may well be the main danger to the selection. Lucky To Have Me is interesting on her best form but might need this back from a break. Platinum Sky is still fairly unexposed but was heavily beaten last time and has a bit to prove following that below par run. Friday also looks to have gone off the boil now.
