Progressive sort who clocked a career best bringing up the hat-trick at Catterick at the start of the month; 8lb rise demands more but open to further improvement and likelihood is he will be the one finishing best again.
I’ve looked away from Royal Ascot on Thursday for our NAP with THE COVEX KID looking a great bet to bring up a four-timer at Lingfield. He has recorded progressive form and ran on strongly to win at Catterick last time. The handicapper has reacted again raising him a further 8lb but he can still progress further and I think he’ll defy that rise. He obviously started his winning run over C&D last month so that has to be a positive as well that he is proven on this surface. Smart Start looks to be the danger as he could step forward in the first-time cheekpieces. He goes handicapping now and is obviously still unexposed after just the 3 starts. Rocket Yogi is on the up but this looks a better race than at Yarmouth.

Ripon 1.45 Calcutta Dream (9/4)
Likeable type who kept finding to open his account at Newcastle on return last month; the second has won convincingly since to frank the form; up 5lb but more to come now he has his head in front and this looks very winnable.
This looks to be between the top 2 in the betting and ready preference is for last time out winner CALCUTTA DREAM. He took a big step forward to open his account at Newcastle last time and with that run nicely franked since he can kick on now and follow up here. A 5lb rise doesn’t look enough to stop him with this step up to a mile and half likely to play to his strengths. Saulire Star looks the danger but she usually finds one too good as she did at Wetherby last time. To be fair to her she has been bumping into the right horses so I expect her to run well again but the favourite just looks to have her measure if building on that initial win. The Resdev Way also deserves a mention back on the Flat here.
