MY US NAP RUNS IN RACE 8 AT BELMONT PARK ON THURSDAY NIGHT!

Race 8 Belmont Park 11.45 Principled Stand (7/4)

Progressive sort who has won 3 from 4 to date; showed a good attitude to prevail on return last month, just holding on by a nose; fitter now and can improve again so good chance he can follow up; keep on side.

I don’t think this will be easy but at the same time I’m keen to side with PRINCIPLED STAND at Belmont Park on Thursday night as he looks a horse on the upgrade. He only prevailed by a nose on return but he looked like he’d come on for it and given that was just his fourth start he will improve again mentally as well. He drops back to 6f now but doesn’t lack speed and if anything that might suit him. I think he looks the most likely winner in this field and he has already been well backed in the betting. Whatmakessammyrun has some good form in the book and ran better beaten 3 lengths last time. If they go too hard he will be closing up so definitely respected.

Race 7 Belterra Park 8.29 Purtiz (9/4)

Promising filly who has won 2 of her last 3 and impressed winning so easily over track and trip last month; capable of better again and this easier if anything so should be really hard to beat here; leading claims.

I’m sticking with the improving PURTIZ at Belterra Park on Thursday night. She won nicely 3 starts back before struggling a touch up in grade next time. She probably did too much early then though so no surprise to see her bounce back to her best over C&D last time in a tougher race than this. Should take an awful lot of beating here if matching that recent form. Class Riot hacked up last time and that was a big improvement on anything we’d seen for a while. It was a sloppy track but she still needs to be feared if managing to run to that sort of level again. Competitive Fire went close last time beaten a length and a half and if managing to build on that might be capable of hitting the frame.
