Progressive sort who has won 3 times this season already including when running on gamely to prevail by a neck over track and trip last month; that form franked since; worth forgiving his York run; massive chance here.
I’m surprised RESILIENCE isn’t favourite here. He is unbeaten over track and trip having prevailed by a gutsy neck last month. That form has been well advertised since with the second Navello winning at Chester yesterday. I know the selection suffered a heavy defeat at York last time but I’m willing to forgive that given how competitive it was and that it was over 6f. I think this speed test with a stiff finish suits perfectly and he can bounce back with a big performance here. Chief White Face is currently favourite but he didn’t look ideally suited by this track when third here last month and has been beaten again at Goodwood over this trip since. Wonderful World may pose a greater threat.

Cartmel 2.50 Dee Star (11/4)
Likeable type who looked back to his best winning well over C&D last month; strong form at this track so could prove hard to beat again despite a 6lb rise; should be staying on best up the run-in; looks great value.
Rapid Flight was very determined to prevail over C&D last time but he is turned out fairly quickly after that and he would have known he had a race that day. He carries a penalty and this looks to have more strength in depth so I think he is opposable. I really like DEE STAR with Kevin Brogan in the saddle. This son of Shantou was dropped 4lb by the handicapper and bounces back to form denied just a short head at Hexham last month. He built on that to win well over track and trip last time and even up another 6lb you’d be foolish to rule out another big run. He goes particularly well at this track and looks to tick plenty of boxes. I’m surprised he is as big in the market as he is at the time of writing.
