NAP – Best selection of the evening
Newmarket 4.10 Mighty Ulysses (6/4)
Improving colt who went down less than a length in the St James’s Palace behind Coroebus at Royal Ascot last month; these obviously much calmer waters so should prove hard to beat especially as he should progress again.
The NAP was back to winning ways yesterday as Kinta left them standing at Kempton! Hopefully we can put together a run of winners now as the weekend looms. We head to Newmarket on Thursday where I’m looking forward to seeing MIGHTY ULYSSES out again. This promising colt ran a cracker in Group 1 company at Royal Ascot last month and with the promise of yet more to come he should prove a class above this field. Berkshire Shadow won the Coventry Stakes as a juvenile but hasn’t tasted victory since. He was behind the selection last month and while he has ground to make up he may end up being the one to chase him home. Alflaila possibly best of the rest but enough to prove.

Doncaster 1.30 Dusky Prince (13/8)
Progressive form in recent starts taking his form up a few notches to win at Wolverhampton last month and then followed up off a 6lb rise impressively at Windsor; looks hard to oppose again so hat-trick beckons.
Great chance for DUSKY PRINCE to make it 3 in a row on Thursday! This 3yo has really found his feet recently and was impressive at Windsor last time. He carries a penalty here but if he turns up in similar form he is very difficult to get away from. Primo’s Comet was a creditable second at Musselburgh last time and is 2lb lower here so has to be considered but I think a place is his best chance in truth. Leodis Dream is the one I’m most fearful of as he was back to form at Chester and if he builds on that he might be the one to keep the selection honest. Super Julius won at Leicester last time but he is by no means a certainty to back that up. He has been massively inconsistent in the past.
