War Front colt who improved to win at Windsor last month; second had good form to his name so an opening handicap mark of 83 likely underestimates him here; could end up having this run to suit as well.
The NAP won again yesterday so I’m looking to land a FOUR-TIMER on Friday. OPERATING is the one I want to be on at Nottingham for John and Thady Gosden. He didn’t do anything flashy at Windsor but stayed on well to get the job done. The second Devoted Poet set a decent standard heading into that and was sent off odds-on. He had previously finished second to Mighty Ulysses so that is very sound form. The selection can keep improving on just his fourth start and a mark of 83 surely underestimates him? Fast Medicine impressed over C&D on penultimate start but was poor at Newmarket and has a bit to prove. He might end up going off too hard as well and help set things up for the fav.

Hamilton 7.47 Nahanni (5/2)
Frankel colt who won impressively at Leicester and then showed a great attitude to follow up at Epsom; far from disgraced in the Derby and excuses again at Royal Ascot; back down in trip and still has potential.
I’m surprised NAHANNI isn’t clear fav for this. He had main market rival West Wind Blows a couple of places behind in the Derby and I don’t even think he gave his true running there. Adam Kirby reported that he got upset by the fireworks and was unsettled. He was slowly into stride and did his best work late. He was slow out again at Royal Ascot and could never get competitive having been bumped early too. These are much calmer waters and back down in trip I think we’ll see the best of him here. He still retains plenty of potential after just the 6 starts and in my eyes should be a lot shorter than the 15/8 on offer at the time of writing. West Wind Blows does still look the main danger.
