Monday’s Best Tips

FEELING HOT HOT HOT! Let’s get the NAP back on track. The only racing to have survived the weather is Cartmel, Ayr and Ballinrobe. Daily Double pays 9/1!

NAP – Best selection of the evening

Ayr 5.15 Yaaser (15/8)

Likeable type who made the breakthrough at Musselburgh back in May and followed up impressively here over 7f next time; acquitted himself well in defeat since and looks sure to go well back up to a mile now.

With just 4 rivals to beat YAASER looks to have a great opportunity of getting himself back in the winners enclosure at Ayr on Monday. This son of Lope De Vega made the breakthrough at Musselburgh back in May and followed up impressively over 7f here next time. He was then beaten just a length and a half by Swinging Eddie who had it all go his way before bumping into a rejuvenated Sparkle In His Eye. He then ran a big race in what looked a strong race last time and the second Starshiba got within a short head on his next start to boost the form. If he can settle better back up to a mile I think he’ll be finishing best of all. Under Fox could be the danger but doesn’t always apply himself.

NB – Second best selection of the day

MY NEXT BEST NOW RUNS ON THE FLAT IN IRELAND AT BALLINROBE!

Ballinrobe 7.05 Longbourn (3/1)

Caught the eye going close on return at Naas back in May; ridden too aggressively before backing out of it at Royal Ascot behind Candleford; this easier and back in trip which will help so should be going close.

Given LONGBOURN was sent off at 66/1 at Royal Ascot he was quite clearly out of his depth and the way he was ridden gave him no chance of seeing that race out. He drops back in trip here and is in much calmer waters now. His reappearance run when second at Naas was encouraging and if he can bounce back I think he is a leading player in this field. Even at the time of writing he isn’t favourite which does surprise me somewhat. Laelaps was only beaten a length into third at the Curragh last time but I still think he needs a bit more help from the handicapper and he is by no means a deserved short priced favourite. Ghasham is lightly raced but was only sixth at Roscommon last time so is opposable too.
