NAP – Best selection of the evening
Newcastle 4.32 Sea King (2/1)
Sea The Stars colt who quickened away to win impressively at Doncaster; failed to give his true running when midfield at Haydock but went up in trip on soft ground; will love being back on this surface back down to 1m4f.
Sir Mark Prescott has his string in red-hot form right now and his runners are being well backed on Saturday. SEA KING is easily the most interesting of them. This Sea The Stars colt improved to win on final start as a 2yo at this track and made a winning return up to a mile and a half at Doncaster back in April. He went up 9lb but I don’t think it was his mark that beat him at Haydock but rather the soft ground. He comes back down to a mile and a half and on ground we know he relishes so he has plenty going for him. When I put the video live he was 9/4 but by the time I updated the website he was already in to 2/1 so that is the price quoted. Thundering is definitely the threat after that win last time.
NB – Second best selection of the day
MY NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS AT ASCOT AGAIN ON SATURDAY!
Ascot 4.45 Saga (2/1)
Invincible Spirit colt who looked unlucky in a fiercely competitive renewal of the Britannia at Royal Ascot last month; that form already been well advertised since; up 8lb but Benoit De La Sayette claims 5lb; obvious chance.
I’ve always thought a fair bit of SAGA and if you forgive him that run on penultimate start he has a very progressive profile. That was a huge run in the Britannia last time and with another couple of strides he would have been the winner. He has gone up 8lb understandably but with Benoit De La Sayette claiming 5lb that largely negates the bulk of that rise. He has more to come on just his seventh start and I think he looks a great bet at 2/1. Tacarib Bay is well regarded by his trainer too and looks the danger for Richard Hannon. He disappointed in the Guineas and again in the Jersey but was quickly back on track winning a handicap at Haydock and should keep the selection honest at least.
