Race 7 Laurel Park 8.55 Rapid Response (6/5)
Progressive sort who has won 2 of his last 3 and showed a good attitude to get the better of the argument last time; back up in trip here and will be hard to oppose if in the same form; should get a good pace to run down.
I’m surprised RAPID RESPONSE isn’t odds-on here? He has won 2 of his last 3 and is hard to oppose on that last win where he had Maythehorsebewithu readily held in second. His win 3 starts back was hugely impressive suggesting this step back up in trip will play to his strengths. Air On Fire has been knocking on the door and shouldn’t be far away again but he is an 8yo now and is exposed. Maythehorsebwithu has 2 lengths to find with the selection but might still be the one to finish second given the lack of strength on show. Spitball ran well on penultimate start on turf but was only fifth on dirt last time so also looks to have enough to prove to get involved. Nothing else appeals.

Race 5 Monmouth Park 8.52 Classy Union (5/1)
Improving type who caught the eye when third on penultimate start and stepped forward again to win impressively last time; this obviously harder again but trending the right way now and might just surprise a few here.
I’m quite surprised CLASSY UNION is as big as 5/1 following that impressive breakthrough win last time. He hit the line strong and is clearly improving now. This is deeper company again but he has more to offer after just the 6 starts and should be going close. Mister J T was particularly impressive on penultimate start but struggled last time and finished a tired horse so he’ll need more to win this you’d think. Shimmering Light won by 8 lengths last time but I’m not all that convinced by his overall profile which has swayed me towards the selection at a bigger price. Right On Q looked to be going the right way on final start as a 3yo and on reappearance but completely blew out last time.
