Haydock 3.45

An apprentice race to kick off the Sunday Series and I’m going to take a chance on THE THIN BLUE LINE at a double-figure price. This horse continues to run well with close seconds to Primo’s Comet and Only Spoofing having worked out well since. He was nearest finish at Doncaster and this track should suit better so I think he is set to run a big race.

Kimngrace looks the danger despite having fluffed her lines at Goodwood. Her form before that stacks up and she is sure to go well. Silky Wilkie also deserves a mention as he is effective over C&D and likely still has more to offer.

Haydock 4.15

Obviously not a race to get heavily involved in with none of these having raced before. A few of these are well entered up including KITAI who should go well if planning to take her entry in the Lowther later this month. It is an eye-catching combination with Hollie Doyle riding for Charlie & Mark Johnston so I expect her to go well.

Zoology would have been interesting too as she has some fancy entries but they are a bit later in the year and now she is a non runner – one to keep note of though. Of the rest Centerstage catches the eye as a £250,000 yearling and could be handy but as I said a small interest on Kitai at best.

Haydock 4.45

I didn’t think Rambuso Creek deserved to be so short so MISTER BLUEBIRD at around 9/1 makes plenty of appeal. He improved to win at Ascot and backed that up given a bit too much to do when sixth at York. He ran on well and was nearest finish that day. He then saluted the judge again at Musselburgh doing it with a bit to spare and despite only finishing fourth at Newmarket last time that was a deep race and I think he is set to go close again.

The two dangers are Good Earth who has been thriving of late and Showtime Mahomes. The latter has been out of form the last twice but if he bounces back that York race he won has worked out notably well and Grant Tuer won this last year too.

Haydock 5.15

As with a lot of these Sunday Series races this is another competitive race with the narrow vote going for MIRAMICHI. Tom Dascombe’s gelding has been running consistently well of late and should be in the mix over a course and distance he has run at before. Pierre-Louis Jamin claims a handy 3lb and he should give us a nice run for our money – each way of course.

Solar Joe could have more to come now up in trip and rates the main danger. Of the rest Award Dancer could be a player going for his hat-trick and will strip fitter since his seasonal debut.

Haydock 5.45

A fair bit of potential lining up for this but perhaps none more so than INDIAN DREAM and he isn’t even at the top of the betting. This son of Sioux Nation looked to need his first couple of starts albeit finishing an eye-catching second at Newmarket on debut. He reared leaving the stalls at Chelmsford next time and could never really recover but still shaped as though he’d do better for the outing. He confirmed that promise to win at Epsom last month following a gelding operation and clocked a good speed figure in the process. He goes handicapping now off what looks a fair mark and if he improves again I can see him following up.

Have Secret went down just a head at Chester last week and looks one of the dangers but slow starts have been costing him. Nap Hand is also a threat as that Newmarket race he finished fourth in last time has worked out well since.

Haydock 6.15

Despite being a bit uneasy in the betting this morning I like the chances of TARRABB at Haydock on Sunday. This Exceed And Excel filly has won 2 of her 4 starts and ran on strongly to get the better of another promising horse in Out From Under at Ascot last month. That was a smart effort and up just 4lb with the step up to a mile looking likely to suit she will be hard to beat. This big field will play to her strengths and if she can pick her way through I think she’ll be finishing best.

Queen Aminatu is likeable and while she has failed to fire in recent starts she was pitched into a Listed race last time and so will find this easier. She will likely go well for a long way and looks the danger. Canoodled obviously finished behind the selection last time so she is unlikely to be too far away again if managing to back that up here.

Haydock 6.45

The money is coming for Charles Byrnes RUN FOR OSCAR and when one is backed from his yard it is often worth siting up and taking notice. This horse ran a cracker when third at the Curragh when last seen in June and if he improves from that here he could find himself back in the winners enclosure. He was given a lot to do the last day and kept on really well in the closing stages. I think as long as this doesn’t turn tactical he should have a great chance.

Arctic Fox is chasing a hat-trick so looks the danger but this is definitely tougher than what she has been facing recently and she is up a further 6lb. The Predictor ran well when second to Mostly Cloudy at Doncaster so also has a chance.
