Newbury 1.20

I’m definitely taking a bit of a chance here but given the track was favouring those ridden prominently yesterday if FRANTANCK goes forward he might not come back to them. This Frankel colt looked promising winning on reappearance at Goodwood and while he could only finish third at Newmarket next time that form has worked out notably well since. He finished last at Sandown but you would have to put a line through that as he definitely didn’t give his running. If he bounces back he may well be the one to beat in this field.

Definite won at Haydock and then bumped into Eagle’s Way at Nottingham. He looks the main danger but lacks the potential of the selection. Rogue Rocket is still unexposed so might find further improvement so is also noted in here.

Ripon 1.40

A really wide open race with 4 of the 5 runners looking to have solid chances of winning with a narrow vote going to PRINCE OF PILLO. He won on his only start in a time that rates quite well among some of these more experienced types. He will likely improve a ton and should go close under Callum Rodriguez.

The main dangers are Wen Moon who has won and finished second on his two runs and New Definition who has the best form in the book but may be vulnerable against the two potential improvers.

Newbury 1.55

Victory Dance ran a big race in defeat when denied a head in the Superlative and is clearly a promising horse going forward but then so is CANDLE OF HOPE. The latter is still unbeaten having made a winning debut over 6f here before following up impressively at Thirsk last time. She is improving all the time and it’s no surprise to see Richard Hughes pitch her in here. She could be very good and at 4/1 I’m happy to pay to find out as I wouldn’t have the fav that short.

Ferrari Queen is also 2-2 but she will go forward and might set it up for the two mentioned above to fight it out. Bluelight Bay has some good form to his name but needs to prove himself up to 7f for the first time. Cite D’Or made a bright start winning at Brighton but this is a big step up so she might always be struggling to live with these.

Newmarket (July) 2.10

In a small field again it looks a good opportunity for ATLANTIS to add another win to her record. She has improved massively since stepping up in trip and this extra two furlongs should see even more from this daughter of Sea The Stars. Her win last time was very impressive and if running to that level alone she should win but could well improve again.

A few of the others are live threats but may not have the scope to match the selection. Australian Angel rates the main danger after a couple of great runs at similar trips. Of the older horses Rozalia could run a big race and follow the two mentioned horses home.

Newbury 2.30

I’m going to chance Hollie Doyle and OUTBOX making all here. This son of Frankel is very talented on his day and while he has failed to fire the last twice this track was suiting those on the speed yesterday and if he gets loose on the front he could have a huge say here. His win at Doha earlier in the year was pretty smart so he does have the ability when applying it.

Zechariah missed just a nose by Eldar Eldarov at Royal Ascot but didn’t really back that up when sent off favourite at Newmarket last time. Of the rest Away He Goes also has to be feared back down in class and coming back in trip.

Ripon 2.50

I am surprised SNASH is a double-figure price for this at the time of writing with his trainer Tim Easterby having such a good recent record in the race. He is drawn in 14 which looks good based on the last 4 or 5 years results and that pace that he will have to aim at. He has won his last two at this trip and will run a massive race off 90.

Another at a big price could be EMPEROR SPIRIT who was in great form before getting caught wide at Chelmsford which is far from ideal and you can put a line through that run. If back to his previous form here he is overpriced. Blackrod is the obvious danger with some great form in some good handicaps and if stall 1 works out here he will be bang there for sure.

Newbury 3.00

I’m really hoping that Goodwood form works out as I’ve tipped the second The Attorney (my NAP) and the fourth (my NEXT BEST) so DANCE FEVER who finished third that day very much caught the eye. He ran on well and back down to his last winning mark here he should have a big say in the finish. Able Kane will go hard and that should help him as he likes running down an end-to-end gallop.

The danger is likely Gisburn as the market is suggesting. This colt by Ribchester ran well when second to I’m A Gambler at Goodwood and off an unchanged mark he should give him most to think about. Fivethousandtoone also has a chance on that big effort last time where he was denied just a short head.

Newmarket (July) 3.18

In a handicap where plenty have questions to answer I am siding with the ultra consistent COME ON GIRL. She has won 2 of her last 4 outings going close on the other two. She goes well on most surfaces and with it hard to be confident behind any of the others here her consistency will prove valuable and has to go close.

With Mister Bluebird a non runner Verreaux Eagle could be the one to give him most to think about. She needs to better what we’ve seen the last twice but is capable of a big run when everything falls right.

Newbury 3.35

Hopefully the track continues to give front runners the advantage as that would make POGO seriously hard to beat. He clocked some decent figures to win at Haydock and Newmarket and went down gamely by just half a length at Goodwood last time. That was obviously a good race being the Lennox and a similar run here might mean he is tough to pass in the closing stages.

Tiber Flow is still a horse I like a lot and he certainly wasn’t disgraced in the Commonwealth Cup. He has been freshened up and the headgear comes off so he is the danger but I just worry about how the track is riding and it being hard to make ground up from off the pace.
