MY NAP RUNS IN THE OPENER AT YORK ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON!

York 1.50 Mighty Ulysses (5/4)

Improved again to make all in Listed company at Newmarket last month, readily holding off subsequent winner Alflaila; likely still has more to come and can see this track suiting so obvious claims to follow up.

I have been waiting for MIGHTY ULYSSES to run after his win at Newmarket in early July. He has gone close on all his runs this season which include two wins. His best bit of form is his run in the St James’s Palace at Royal Ascot where he went close to taking a Group 1. If in similar form to his last couple of runs he will take this. It doesn’t look a deep race for the level and I think Bashkirova could be the main danger in a bit of an easier race than when last seen at Royal Ascot and should go well. Alflaila obviously reopposes again and is improving himself but he has enough to find with the selection and I just can’t see him reversing that form. Sonny Liston ran well in third at Goodwood but still needs more.

York 4.45 Rocket Rodney (7/4)

Likeable type who went down just a neck to Little Big Bear in the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot, form which obviously looks really strong now; good second to another nice prospect at Goodwood; hard to beat.

Despite being beaten at Goodwood last time I am still a big fan of ROCKET RODNEY as his form looks standout here. That neck second to Little Big Bear was a huge run and then last time he was clear with the winner Trillium who looks another nice prospect. He likely has more to come after just the 5 runs and it’s no surprise to see him favourite for this. Treasure Trove missed by just a short head to Mauiewowie at the Curragh and that is solid form so she looks the main danger. I still feel she needs more though. Rousing Encore should enjoy dropping back to the minimum but again he will need more to trouble the selection as he sets a strong standard for me. Bolt Action best of the rest.
