Newcastle 5.45
A fiercely competitive opener to the Racing League on Thursday night with it 5/1 bar the field at the time of writing. I’m going to chance two in here with my main play being WYNTER WILDES for Charlie Fellowes. This filly has been knocking on the door since winning at Hamilton back in May and she again ran right up to form beaten less than a length at Doncaster last time. If she gets the gaps she is quite appealing at around 11/2 at the time of writing.
With 10 runners there are some good each way plays in here and perhaps none better than SOPHOSC who does need to bounce back but on his best form would have obvious claims. His win at Newbury was a really good effort and he should get competitive here if back to form. Solar Joe won at Pontefract and was a good second at Haydock so looks a big danger. Trinity Girl is a C&D winner so she also has a squeak.
Newcastle 6.15
A really open renewal of this race with 6 or 7 at the top of the market looking like they have a great chance. I am sticking with last years winner in TREGONY. This filly by New Bay is 7lb higher in the weights this year but has improved based on her last run. She is clearly better on the all-weather and will go close at a nice price with Saffie Osborne claiming a handy 3lb off her back.
Postmark rates the main danger going for his hat-trick. He is up another 7lb but it was an easy win at Lingfield last time and he will likely go well again here. Swatch really stepped forward on his first run on the AW at Lingfield last time and has the most scope for improvement and I expect him to be fighting out the places here at a big price.
The theme for most of the night is big competitive fields and we have another one here. Saying that I do like GALIAC at the top of the betting. This Kodiac colt ran well when third to Golden Voice and Cabinet Of Clowns at Sandown and again caught the eye in defeat when third to I’m A Gambler and Gisburn at Goodwood last month. He then missed by less than 2 lengths at Doncaster and clearly comes here at the top of his game. I’m struggling to see how he doesn’t go close.
Baltimore Boy likely heads the dangers as he impressed winning here and then bumped into a useful type when second to Caph Star at Kempton last time. Of the rest Menai Bridge is also worth a mention having ran well when second at Lingfield and he is off the same mark here.
Newcastle 7.15
Things didn’t really work out for FRESH HOPE at Doncaster last time. She was only beaten a length after meeting trouble and with a clearer run through I think she’ll have a good chance of taking this off the same mark. She is clearly a talented filly who could easily still be open to further improvement. If this pans out favourably she is the most likely winner for me with Kieran Shoemark getting the leg up replacing Hayley Turner.
Alrehb ran well when second to Yaaser in that race the selection was back in fourth so he looks the danger. At a bigger price Riot is on a lengthy losing run but I thought he shaped well last time so might be worth backing for a place.
Newcastle 7.45
With Frankie Dettori booked for the ride I can see ZAMAN JEMIL going close at Newcastle tonight. This Invincible Spirit colt certainly needed the run on debut when nearer last than first at Salisbury. He quickly left that behind when fourth to Mill Stream at Doncaster though and that looks solid form now. He then missed just a head at Pontefract last time where he was only just denied and any further improvement on handicap debut would see him the one to beat.
Sioux Nation colt Minnesota Lad is the threat as he won nicely staying on well at Beverley last time and should appreciate the extra yardage here on nursery debut. Prairie Falcon also brings winning form to the table having won at Goodwood last time. A 2lb rise looks very fair and if handling this surface he is unlikely to be far away. Tanzanite also has a squeak too.
Newcastle 8.15
Maximum field of 14 going to post for this race and it may be worth taking a chance on ABERAMA GOLD at a nice each way price. He has dropped right down the weights since being rated 103 last year. His runs over 6 furlongs suggest he is ready to get back in the winners enclosure off this mark and I can see him outrunning his odds at a big price (12/1 at the time of writing).
True Mason is on a hat-trick after two nice wins. He is up a further 7lb though so may be vulnerable here. I actually think the main danger could be Badri who has form of 2nd, 1st and 2nd since going back on the all-weather and he will likely run a big race again. Mojomaker is another one who cannot be completely ruled out.
Newcastle 8.45
Another tricky race to close out but I do think CUBAN BREEZE has solid claims and I’m going to stick with her despite that fourth at York last time. She has already won 5 times this season and beat Chipstead at Windsor which looks pretty solid form. Things didn’t really pan out for her last time but she ran on well and I think the 3 in front of her are pretty useful in Designer, Pink Crystal and Sandbeck. They all look progressive types. If she avoids trouble she has to be bang there here.
The danger looks to be Be Proud who loves it here being a 5-time C&D winner. He shaped better than the bare result last time and back at this track should run a nice race. Show Me Show Me is on a fair mark but doesn’t win too often but still would have to be considered as well.
