NAP – My best tip of the day
Ascot 3.45 Al Marmar (13/8)
Promising sort who improved from a gelding operation to win by a nose over C&D on reappearance; good effort in defeat when second at Newmarket and then caught the eye short of room at York; more to come yet.
Given some well fancied horses struggled stand side at Ascot the day AL MARMAR won over C&D that was a really promising effort. He has been beaten twice since but caught the eye in defeat at York last time where he was short of room at a crucial stage. He has more to come yet and this looks a good opportunity back at this venue to get his head back in front. He is still lightly raced so if he improves again he should have this field covered. Carolus Magnus is a useful yardstick and he only went down a length when third to Amanzoe over further here last month. He can be slowly away but still looks the one most likely to finish second. Colour Image won at Bath but failed to back that up last time.

Kempton 6.20 Bailey Gate (11/4)
Good looking colt who caught my eye chasing home Buccabay when second at Ascot; nearest finish over 5f at Sandown in a race that has worked out well; good second latest clear from the rest; sets a high standard.
This looks between the top 2 in the betting and I’m keen to play the colt that is a bigger price of the pair in BAILEY GATE for Richard Hannon. He first caught my eye chasing home a nice prospect in Buccabay at Ascot and has done little wrong since finishing fourth in a hot race at Sandown before going close at Chelmsford latest. He was beaten just half a length that day and the front pair came over 3 lengths clear from the rest. He is still improving and already sets the standard so 11/4 seems generous to me. Theme Park has potential and looks the danger but I think they’ve priced him up too short for this. I know the horse that beat him Silver Knott has won again since but he lacks experience.
