Southwell 5.45
Another night of highly competitive action from the Racing League this time on the AW at Southwell. I’m going to chance CARAUSIUS in the opener for Charlie Hills. This 5yo is a four-time course winner and I know we haven’t seen him since February but he has won fresh before and I still think he has more to come off his current mark. He will need the gaps but looks better value than the favourite.
Prydwen won his first two starts this year to bring up a hat-trick of wins and while he has been beaten 3 times since he went down less than a length at Lingfield last time so comes here in good form. That form has also been boosted so has more going for him than most.
Southwell 6.15
A very open race here with a few of these with a lot more to come including TEQUILAMOCKINGBIRD who won nicely at Kempton last month. That was only her third handicap start and I expect she has plenty more to offer. She thrives on the all-weather and looks overpriced here at around 13/2.
Sanitiser ran a cracker to win at Windsor stepping up from the mile and is clearly unexposed at these middle distances and rates the biggest danger. Of the rest Haunted Dream stayed on well last time at Windsor and could go really well again. This should throw up plenty of future winners.
Southwell 6.45
Another tough race but I do think GALIAC might be rewarded for his consistency. This colt chased home System at Doncaster before getting within half a length of victory at Newcastle behind Menai Bridge. He is clearly in great form and won’t need to find much more to win this. Callum Shepherd is in the saddle again and he looks to have plenty going for him despite this being competitive.
City Runner won at Sandown in July and then backed that up with a creditable run to finish third at York. He looks one of the main threats to the selection. Double Dealing has won here and is also in good order at present so has to be respected too.
Southwell 7.15
This doesn’t look a tough race and it looks a good opportunity for STREET KID to get his head in front after catching the eye last time out. That was his first run of the season and he was only just chinned late. He was keen which can happen on seasonal debut and he will likely be better here. He is certainly the one they have to beat and looks a nice price at the time of writing.
Ruth Carr’s Swiss Ace may be a double-figure price but back on this surface he could be a different proposition and rates a danger to all. Desert Land is thriving at this trip and will go close again so also deserves plenty of respect.
Southwell 7.45
Badri has won 2 of his last 3 including over C&D so has to be greatly respected here but the market certainly hasn’t missed him and it might just be worth opposing. I’m going to give WATER OF LEITH another chance back up to 6f for Jim Goldie. I’m convinced he would have had this race on his radar for a while and he hasn’t had much luck since winning over this trip at Ayr at the start of last month. He ran down a blind alley at Carlisle before finishing on the heels of the leaders at Windsor and then got going too late again at Ascot. He still has potential off this mark being just a 4yo and 14/1 looks way too big to me.
Of the rest Dark Angel colt Watchya has won 3 of his last 5 and has been freshened up since that Bath win. The 5lb rise in a tougher race was enough to put me off for now. Tommy de Vito is another one that could go close.
Southwell 8.15
This race looks like it is going to be run at a crazy pace with plenty of these looking to go forward. This should really suit CASTAN who is in top form after going close last time out at Ripon. He gets to run off the same mark which looks more than workable and will be pouncing late here. I’m surprised he is as big as 11/1 as that looks generous given the way this race should pan out.
Of the horses on the speed New Hope Bullet looks the biggest danger going for a hat-trick after being awarded the race last time out. She goes on any surface and I can see why she is favourite but with the amount of horses on the speed it won’t be easy and I prefer to play something each way in here.
Southwell 8.45
The money has really come for EQUALITY the last twice and it looks the same again tonight. He was only beaten 3 lengths at Goodwood despite finishing just 10th of 15 but closed that gap to get within a short head of victory at Windsor. He is clearly in flying form right now and given the amount of money for him overnight connections must be anticipating another big run here so I’m siding with him.
The Bell Conductor is chasing a hat-trick of wins and is a three-time C&D winner. He clocked a career best when last seen but has been off for a while and is 7lb higher so this is no easy return. Still one on my radar though. Show Me Show Me and Soul Seeker the other pair I expect to be fighting it out for a place so the market pretty much looks to have this spot on.

The Racing League continues this evening from Southwell and I have picked out a Lucky 15 for the action live on ITV. Pays 3,168/1!
