Newcastle 5.45

A really wide open race to kick off this weeks Racing League meeting live on ITV Racing. TRINITY GIRL looks overpriced on her run over course and distance last month. She only lost out to Wynter Wildes by half a length and is much better off at the weights. She was staying on that day and clearly loves it at Newcastle. If she is the same form she is a nice price here and looks worth covering each way.

Wynter Wildes will be a danger despite the swing at the weights with the selection as she is never far away. If Postmark can show his 10 furlong form at this trip he has to be a threat to all of these with Dettori in the saddle again. Of the rest Sarsons Risk is on a roll chasing a hat-trick but I think it’s quite clear he’ll need to improve again to win this.

Newcastle 6.15

I’m keen to look away from the head of the market here and I’m going to chuck two darts at the board. The first of those is INNSE GALL who has won 2 of his last 3 starts and is available at 33/1? That was a career best beating Little Ted at Ripon last month and up just 3lb while this is tougher I think he will be bang there under Midge Mullen who rides this track so well. He’ll be ridden for a late run so if getting the gaps will go close.

I also like ANDALEEP despite that new career-high mark kicking in. He brought up a hat-trick of wins in good style at Sandown and that looked a good race at Windsor last time. The form has already been franked and while his record on the AW isn’t inspiring he is too big a price if things fall his way. Dangers include the fav Eetee and the consistent Tregony.

Newcastle 6.45

I was impressed by how MENAI BRIDGE won over course and distance back on week 3 of the Racing League and I think he could still be well handicapped on this surface. He thrives on the all-weather with form figures of 1223813 on the surface. If he runs to that level again a 4lb penalty shouldn’t stop him so it’s no surprise to see him heading the betting despite how open this looks to be.

Galiac was second behind the selection that day and even with a few pounds back in his favour at the weights he looked to be well held that day so might find it hard to reverse the form. Don’t Tell Claire could be the main danger as she is in great form on turf and has won here previously. Sip And Smile could be best of the rest.

Newcastle 7.15

I was really impressed with OUT FROM UNDER at Kempton last time. He made all the running and ramped it up impressively merely having to be ridden out close home. He is up 6lb but clearly still has a bit in hand and if getting his own way in front again under Dettori he could take a lot of pegging back here. He is still just a 3yo so should be open to further improvement as well.

Given the make-up of the race I’m also going to have a saver on CLASSY AL who hasn’t been beaten far the last twice and he still might have more to offer. He is a horse that needs things to drop right but at 25/1 he looks worth chancing each way. Fresh Hope would be the obvious danger having got her head in front again last time.

Newcastle 7.45

In what is a really open race I am giving NEVER JUST A DREAM a chance to bounce back. He won nicely at Wolverhampton before being stepped up to a Group 2 (Gimcrack). That was clearly too much for him sent off a 50/1 chance but if he can run to the level of his run at Wolverhampton he will be a big player here. He still brings plenty of potential to the table after just the 3 runs and is one of the more likely winners in the field.

Cotai Pearl and Magical Merlin are clearly big dangers with both getting weight from the selection with plenty more to come. The latter did see that Windsor form let down though with Proverb only managing third at Yarmouth next time out. Of the rest Gemcutter could prove interesting if showing her form at this trip.

Newcastle 8.15

There is no horse in better form here than BADRI having won 2 of his last 3 including over C&D last month. The handicapper was impressed as well raising him 8lb but I can still see him running a big race. He was held up and cut through the pack to win convincingly. This could pan out favourably again and he has to be the play with Mulrennan doing the steering again.

At a massive price I can’t leave alone WATER OF LEITH who has had excuses in recent starts and if getting the splits back up to 6f here looks overpriced to me at 20/1 at the time of writing. Dangers include Honky Tonk Man who wasn’t disgraced last time and comes back down in trip and Lir Speciale who is also going the right way now.

Newcastle 8.45

The maximum of 14 runners are set to go post for this and I quite like two in here. MANY A STAR has been running in some very good handicaps and looks to be holding his form very well. He has gone well on the all-weather previously and has a solid chance in an easier race that he has been constesting. I wouldn’t be surprised if he went off favourite as he certainly has the credentials to take this.

At a nice each way price BE PROUD looks weighted to run a big race after being dropped a couple of pounds. He has won over courses and distance with his last win coming at Newcastle off this exact same mark so he could be well handicapped on that form. As with any sprint there are dangers galore with Show Me Show Me and Faustus big players.
