NAP – My best tip of the day
Chelmsford 5.30 Chartwell House (6/4)
Churchill colt who showed a determined attitude to come out on top at Epsom last month with the front pair nicely clear; did well to win that as didn’t really handle the track; good opportunity to go and follow up here.
My NAP is on a rough patch of form at the moment but hopefully I can get it back firing soon. I’m going to head to Chelmsford on Thursday where CHARTWELL HOUSE looks well placed to follow up. He was a big eye-catcher going close at Windsor back in July but didn’t really back that up when midfield at Goodwood. The market certainly didn’t miss him at Epsom last time though and he made no mistake toughing it out to get up at the finish. He didn’t really handle the undulations so I think that can be marked up even more. He remains open to further improvement and should be hard to beat here on the AW for the first time. Ghassan wasn’t beaten far on debut and looks the biggest danger.

Ayr 4.45 Shimmering Sands (2/1)
Progressive sort who opened his account impressively at Beverley earlier in the season and was back to winning ways at Leicester last month, nicely on top in the closing stages; up 5lb but definitely more to come.
With 2 wins from his last 3 starts SHIMMERING SANDS can salute the judge again at Ayr on Thursday. He was keen enough at Leicester and was denied a run before switching left and coming through strongly. He clearly has something in hand off his current mark even up another 5lb here. I want to keep him on side and I think he can justify favouritism. A Boy Named Ivy is a likeable yardstick who has won at this track so he could be the danger. Michael Dods has his string in good order too so that’s another positive to his chance. Eshtora is unexposed but has a bit to prove given recent efforts. Golden Sands was down the field at Hamilton and might be in the handicappers grip for now.
