MY US NAP RUNS IN RACE 8 AT SANTA ANITA ON SATURDAY NIGHT!
Race 8 Santa Anita 12.08 Country Grammer (11/10)
Talented sort who beat Hot Rod Charlie to win a huge pot in Dubai; two very good seconds since and readily reversed that form with Royal Ship at Del Mar last time; should prove hard to beat in this.
Flightline was obviously much too good for COUNTRY GRAMMER last time but I think it is significant the latter finished in front of Royal Ship and I’m confident he can confirm those placings tonight. I expect the pair to battle it out and hopefully the selection can justify favouritism. Defunded was behind the pair mentioned above so has his work cutout to close that gap despite remaining relatively unexposed. Express Train was fourth in that race so has more pressing claims than the latter but still needs more to spring a surprise here you’d think. Tripoli has some good form to his name and might be a lively chance to rattle the frame at decent odds. The rest all look to be up against it.

Race 10 Belmont At The Big A 10.45 Gulfport (7/4)
Promising colt who won his first two starts head in chest and looked a horse going places; beaten twice since but very good second at the top level last time and holds Blazing Sevens on that run too.
This is a good race but GULFPORT sets the standard and I think he can improve again to get back to winning ways here. His first two starts were so impressive and if he steps forward he should be capable of justifying favouritism. Verifying made a bright start winning on debut but will need more to trouble the selection. I do think the pair will finish the 1-2 here though. Top Recruit has won 2 from 3 and also has a future but this is a race packed full of quality. Andiamo a Firenze is 2 from 3 and impressed last time but this is a big step up so again will need to improve just to be in the mix. Blazing Sevens made a winning debut before bumping into the selection so has ground to make up to feature.
