MY US NAP RUNS IN RACE 8 AT SANTA ANITA ON FRIDAY NIGHT!
Race 8 Santa Anita 12.35 Leyas Candy (best price 2/1)
Promising colt who improved again to get his head in front in a better race than this last time; step back up to 6f will suit given how he hit the line the last day and very much the one to beat in this field; keep on side.
This looks a great chance for LEYAS CANDY to follow up. He had shown plenty in his first 3 starts without winning but proved too strong for rivals last time. He drew away late so this extra half a furlong is in his favour too and given this is effectively a shade easier he should be tough to beat. Prayer Of Jabez beat I Know Cash Flow easily last time and looks the main danger if building on that. He will likely struggle coming up against the calibre of the fav though as this is tougher than anything he has faced previously and he has already been gelded so improvement could be stumped somewhat. Quick Flash is exposed compared to these but at least has experience on side. Likely vulnerable to improvers.

Race 7 Gulfstream Park 8.24 Partner’s Hope (best price 2/1)
Likeable type who showed a good attitude to get up by a neck over track and trip last month; hard to beat if reproducing that sort of form again here; should have a good pace to run down too so ideal scenario.
No surprise to see PARTNER’S HOPE trading as favourite for this. He impressed over C&D last time and if in the same form will be hard to beat here as I think he’ll be hitting the line strong. He did find Barone Cesco too strong back in May but that was on turf and I think he is a better horse on a synthetic surface. The latter has been beaten four times since as well but did run well last time so is the likely danger. Pharoah Cat was chasing a hat-trick last time but came up short and has a bit to prove off the back of that. Heals The Soul is at least unexposed but has ground to make up with Amor Lejano last time. Given time since so might have improved but likely do better for the run here.
