Race 8 Horseshoe Indiana 9.47 Firing Range (best price 7/4)

Likeable type who was highly tried after landing back-to-back wins earlier in the season; very much back to form going down just half a length over track and trip last time; more to come so can go one better here.

This looks a good opportunity for the unexposed FIRING RANGE to resume his progress. He looked really promising earlier in the season but was handed some tough assignments after and rather lost his way. It was good to see him back to form at this level last time and he won’t need much more to get back in the winners enclosure. Flying Samurai won on penultimate start showing a good attitude to prevail by a head but was well held last time so needs to bounce back to trouble the selection. Got Lost won 3 starts back but has also been heavily beaten the last twice and had no answers last time so enough to prove at present. Rookwood might be the danger as he won last time and is lightly raced.

Race 8 Delaware Park 8.00 Practical Sense (best price 2/1)

Improving with experience judging by how close he got here last time, missing by just a head at the line having closed from off the pace; scope for further progress and step back up half a furlong in trip ideal.

After just the 4 starts I think it is pretty clear we haven’t seen the best of PRACTICAL SENSE just yet. He only missed by a head last time and won’t need to find much more improvement to open his account now. This looks winnable and I think he’ll be a warm order come post time. Bold Medication ran well switched to turf last time but has a bit to prove coming back on dirt given how poorly he ran back in August. John Jay is lightly raced as well but completely blew out last time and is hard to recommend off the back of that. Joe Brains didn’t show a great deal on debut but will improve. Probably needs to if he is to get competitive. Agent Mulgannon pretty exposed and will need to bring his best form.
