Friday’s Best Tips

NAP – My best tip of the day

Exeter 3.35 Third Time Lucki (best price 15/8)

Promising chaser who won three times over fences last season and chased home Edwardstone in the Kingmaker; jumping let him down at Aintree; can go very well fresh and looks on a good mark.

I’m really hoping we see the THIRD TIME LUCKI turn up that we saw at Cheltenham at the start of last season. He was electric over his fences then and when he gets into a rhythm like that he can be hard to catch. I think this track will suit and in a first-time tongue-tie pitched into a handicap off a mark of 153 he looks the one to beat. The obvious danger is War Lord which might sound a little bit silly given Greaneteen won this back in 2020 but the latter has to give away a lot of weight here so it looks a stiff ask on his comeback. War Lord won 3 of his first 4 starts over fences before finishing a creditable fourth to Edwardstone in the Arkle. He should chase the selection home here.

NB – My Next or second best tip of the day

MY NEXT BEST WON AGAIN YESTERDAY AND RUNS ON THE AW AT DUNDALK!

Dundalk 7.30 Smile Of Love (best price 3/1)

Improving filly who built on a really encouraging comeback run at Tipperary to win by 10 lengths at Bellewstown; no problem following up over 7f here last month; this tougher but unexposed over a mile.

The way SMILE OF LOVE has won the last twice it is no great surprise to see her pitched into Listed company now. She is clearly progressive and going back up a furlong in trip should only see her improve again. The danger is probably Juncture who went close at Leopardstown before being beaten 3 lengths into third in a Group 3 at the Curragh. She won when last seen at this level over C&D so must go well once more. Frankel filly Mehnah has won at this track but did come up short as this level when only sixth behind Toy at Naas last time. She wasn’t beaten far though so has to enter calculations. Surrounding was behind the selection last time but definitely has place claims here.
