Race 5 Tampa Bay Downs 7.35 Novgorod The Great (best price 11/10)
Promising type who has now won 3 of his last 5 starts and looked good driving clear to win over this trip at Gulfstream last month; can keep improving and looks hard to oppose switching back to turf here.
I’m keen to stick with the progressive NOVGOROD THE GREAT at Tampa tonight. He is a horse on an upward trajectory looking at his form and with more to come back on turf he should have too many gears for this field. There isn’t a huge amount of pace on so I think he’ll go forward and they might not see which way he goes. Balistico is a 7yo now so is unlikely to improve again but has been running to a decent level so should be in the mix for a long way again. Savy Layla has knocked on the door the last twice but needs to transfer that back to turf here but should run well. Justice Warrior won his last start on turf but was thrashed on dirt last time and has enough to prove after that run.

Race 3 Woodbine 7.22 Hal (best price 15/8)
Unbeaten having held on to make a winning debut over 7f before following up over the same track and trip last time; goes up in trip again and pitched into a Grade 3 now but definitely more to come.
This looks a winnable Grade 3 on paper so I think HAL can make it a perfect 3-3. He scrambled home somewhat on debut having gone through the race like the best horse but then put in a much more polished performance to go 2 from 2 last time. He is open to further progress and should be able to show these a clean pair of heels. Forever Dixie beat Renegade Rebel before finishing a closing second last time. She could be the main danger to the selection if improving again. Renegade Rebel improved to win by 7 lengths last time and is another one to note if coping with a race as hot as this on what is just her fifth start. Bluebirds Over promising on debut and is another one who has a squeak.
