Likeable type who bumped into some good horses last season but improved to make a winning return doing it impressively at Hereford last month; more to come yet and great chance to follow up here.
With just the 3 rivals to beat here I’m struggling to look past MARBLE SANDS off the back of that 22-length romp at Hereford last month. He had run some big races in defeat last season and has clearly done well over the summer as looked in rude health last time. He has only had a handful of starts over hurdles so with more to come looks well placed to follow up. Pimlico Point cost £160,000 after winning his sole start in Irish points and bumped into Firestream in a bumper at Exeter. That horse has since looked impressive over hurdles so good form. He made a winning start over hurdles at Chepstow despite idling late and should make a race of it but may do better for the run on reappearance.

Carlisle 1.00 Soaring Glory (best price 6/4)
Scopey sort who won the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury last year; far from disgraced when fifth in the most recent running of that race; can go on to better things now sent over fences and one to keep on side.
It was a shame to see SOARING GLORY miss his engagement at Newbury yesterday but perhaps connections wanted an easier start and hopefully this will prove just that. He was a smart horse over hurdles but has always looked a chaser in the making and I’m keen to keep him on side. This track should suit and it is no surprise to see him top the betting for this. Nells Son showed a big enough engine over hurdles to think he’d make a nice chaser in time and he made an encouraging start when second to Since Day One at Ayr last time. If he builds on that he won’t be far away. Richmond Lake goes well fresh so also has to be respected. Interested to see how Peejaybee goes and might back him (enhanced places).
