It wasn’t a perfect performance from France despite eventually winning 4-1 against Australia in their World Cup opener. They went a goal behind in just the 9th minute and took until the 27nd to level. Once they did draw level there was only going to be one winner and Giroud fed on good service for France to pull clear in the end. This will be a much sterner test of their credentials and Denmark are sure to improve on that 0-0 against Tunisia.
Denmark have scored in 18 of their last 21 matches and came into this tournament as potentially one of the dark horses in the competition. They just seemed a bit reluctant to commit men forward against Tunisia but this will be a very different scenario and one they might be better suited by. They beat France 2-0 in the Nations League and shouldn’t be underestimated. France have conceded in 6 of their last 7 so they will fancy their chances of getting on the scoresheet.
What about Mbappe? It was hard not to be blown away with the sheer speed from Mbappe against Australia. He is unlikely to have as much space here but that still doesn’t mean Denmark can stop him. I think he’ll make the difference and France can emerge victorious but with goals going in either end. Unlike this World Cup so far this should be entertaining!
