After thrashing Iran 6-2 I think it is safe to say the English media got a bit carried away (as did we). Well in typical England style they brought fans crashing back down to earth with a spineless performance against USA. It was a sluggish, laboured, and in all honesty a pathetic 90 minutes with perhaps the only positive being the clean sheet. That was in some aspects lucky though as Pulisic was denied by the crossbar and they didn’t exactly look comfortable at the back.
The good news for England is they face Wales who are winless in their last 7 and suffered a shocking 2-0 defeat to Iran.
England are clearly much better on the front-foot as they showed hitting 6 past Iran. If this was a horse-race well that form has been franked with Iran beating Wales 2-0. It is hard to envisage which England will turn up but either way I think they will create more chances against Wales than they did USA so goals could be the way to go. There are still reasons to remain positive too with Foden likely to be reintroduced to the starting line-up. He really could be a key player for England here and going forward.
Wolves have lost 5 of their last 7 matches now and has lost their last three meetings with England failing to score twice. I thought Kieffer Moore looked isolated and slow and bar set-pieces I’m not sure they will manage to create anything. Bale was off the pace and they are really struggling right now. England to win to nil and the handicap makes plenty of appeal as I see this being pretty straightforward.
