Leopardstown 1.10

In a ridiculously wide open Pertemps Handicap PERCEVAL LEGALLOIS looks a solid each way bet. He is ultra consistent over hurdles and is still improving with every run. This is a tougher race but he is weighted to go close again after only being raised a few pounds for two seconds by a head or less. He should be up with the pace and I think that may pay dividends here so solid claims.

Maxxum is favourite due to his last run where he routed his opposition by 9 lengths but he has been raised 17lb as a result so I would rather be on the selection at double the price. At a bigger price Maze Runner could be the main danger to the selection.

Leopardstown 1.45

I’ll be surprised if FLOORING PORTER doesn’t win this. On his day he is the best of these and I thought he was unlucky in this last year losing out to Klassical Dream. The latter got a head start on the field and never came back to them. Under aggressive tactics the selection should get away in front this time and I don’t see anything good enough in here to peg him back if he is allowed to dictate.

I know Home By The Lee produced a big performance to run down Bob Olinger in the Lismullen Hurdle where the selection was only fourth but he didn’t jump well enough that day and better is expected now.

Leopardstown 2.20

It’s a shame A Plus Tard has come out due to vet’s advice but now it looks a great opportunity for CONFLATED to get back to winning ways. He produced a huge performance to win the Paddy Power Irish Gold Cup over C&D by 6 and a half lengths earlier in the year and with that Down Royal run under his belt he should be spot on now. He remains lightly raced over 3 miles for his age and I’m expecting a big run.

Stablemate Galvin will give him most to think about as he looked good at Punchestown before disappointing at Down Royal. If bouncing back he should run his race. Kemboy likes it here and won this back in 2018 but is a 10yo now and is vulnerable to younger legs.

Leicester 2.35

This is competitive but if PLAYFUL SAINT builds on that close second to Love Envoi at Sandown then he will be tough to beat. That was a big step forward from his Chepstow run and the front pair came 3 and a half lengths clear from a well strung out field. He is 3lb higher but on what is just his fifth run over hurdles improvement is expected again. He carries a big weight but under patient tactics I think he’ll be finishing best.

Milldam improved to finish second at Fakenham on return when well backed but again failed to justify market support when only third at Hexham last month. He still has potential so could be the danger with the tongue strap back on.

Leopardstown 2.55

Willie Mullins has won the last 3 runnings of this race, winning it with the Gold Cup favourite last year. He runs I AM MAXIMUS this year who has always been held in high regard since beating My Drogo in a bumper. He hasn’t quite fulfilled his promise so far with some very good runs in defeat. Now chasing he will likely improve with his first run of the season showing how good he can be just losing out to Minella Crooner.

The main danger could be Gentlemansgame who on his day is good enough to take this but may need the run. His run at Punchestown in the Champion Stayers Hurdle is a great benchmark and if in that sort of form on chase debut he could be a big threat to all.

Leicester 3.10

The money is really coming for OUR JET so improvement can be expected from his chase debut. He ran well to finish second to Gemirande at Southwell and will do better for the experience. He won twice over hurdles and is still thoroughly unexposed after just a handful of runs under Rules. The front pair came clear of the rest last time and he almost certainly has more to offer.

Ile De Jersey likely would have won at Taunton before taking a tumble but quickly put that right to win at Southwell last month. He likely has more to come so looks the danger if managing to put in a clear round of jumping.
