Sandown 1.15

There was a lot of money for PEEJAYBEE at Sandown last time but sadly he took a tumble. That was just his second run over fences so he does lack experience but he retains a fair bit of potential given what he achieved over hurdles. He can often travel strongly and as long as his confidence hasn’t been knocked I think he could resume his progress here. This is easier and there is a lot of pace on so it should pan out perfectly.

Gemirande deserved to get his head in front over fences at Southwell last time and looks the danger if handling these softer conditions. He is up 10lb but the runner-up Our Jet has gone in again since to frank the form. Of the rest Scipion is also open to improvement.

Wincanton 1.30

A really wide open renewal with just 5lb splitting the top five in the market. I give the edge to ELIXIR DE NUTZ who needed his comeback run before going close at Doncaster last time out. That race should leave him bang on for this and the step up in trip will suit. If in the same form as his last run I have him as the one to beat so 15/2 at the time of writing looks a bit of value despite it being a competitive race.

Celebre D’allen is the favourite at the time of writing and has to be the danger after the handicapper dropped him a couple of pounds for his comeback run. Of the rest Magic Saint could run a big race if ready to roll on his first run in just under a year.

Sandown 1.50

Grey Diamond shaped well when third at Cheltenham and that form has been boosted since so he has to be feared but I wouldn’t want to take a short price and I prefer THE LAST DAY at bigger odds. He remains lightly raced for his age and was last seen in winning form staying on well to win at Aintree last year. He is 8lb higher here but goes well fresh and may well end up surprising a few in here.

Corrigeen Rock won at Kelso and Sandown last time and looks the most obvious danger given he remains open to further improvement. Frero Banbou was fourth behind Boothill at Ascot when last seen and also has a chance if building on that run.

Wincanton 2.05

Not the best field for a £25,000 pot and DESQUE DE L’ISLE is the one to beat. He has won his last two runs at Ludlow and has only been raised 4lb for his latest victory. I don’t think he has a lot in hand but in a race that lacks depth he has to go close again and it is no great surprise to see him top the market for this. Shane Quinlan claims a handy 3lb which would be another positive to his chances.

The main danger looks to be Interne De Sivola dropping in trip. His form around 2 miles over hurdles is solid so tackling that trip in this sphere now could get him rolling over fences. Of the rest Midnight Midge could fill the places as he will also thrive down in trip.

Sandown 2.25

The Tolworth is always a race I enjoy and it was where we saw Constitution Hill burst on to the scene last year before going on to win the Supreme. Nicky Henderson doesn’t have a runner this year so perhaps it will be Gary Moore that takes advantage with the promising AUTHORISED SPEED. This horse clearly has a massive engine and if jumping slicker here they might not see which way he goes.

Paul Nicholls has won this four times in the past but not for a while but he could have the danger in Tahmuras. He is 2-2 over hurdles and impressed again at Haydock last time. He will improve again so should make a race of it. Nemean Lion is another one to note.

Sandown 3.00

This race usually pays to oppose those at the top of the weights and SAINT XAVIER looks a solid each way bet here after a nice win at Haydock last time. He ran well in a nice race at Cheltenham before that and clearly has a bit in hand still running off just 126. If he can run to the level of his Haydock run here he will outrun his price which is around 8/1 at the time of writing – can see that getting backed slightly.

Ramses De Teillee is an old favourite and whilst he impressed last time out he carries top-weight so will need to be as good as ever here. Last year’s winner Prime Venture is the main danger as he goes off the same mark here after getting a few fitness runs in over hurdles to keep his mark down. Of the rest UP HELLY AA KING is a big price and has form behind the selection last time so might be worth an each way saver at 20/1!

Wincanton 3.15

It’s a shame we only have the four runners heading to post for this but I have been looking forward to seeing CHIANTI CLASSICO out again. He is unbeaten over hurdles having made a winning start at Chepstow back in October and then followed up impressively at Market Rasen. The third Old Painless won by 14 lengths next time out to frank the form. He could easily be well handicapped off a mark of 131.

The danger is probably Sir Psycho despite falling at Bangor when last seen. He jumped right at the second fence and came down. Back over hurdles if that experience hasn’t knocked his confidence he should give the selection a race.

Sandown 3.35

By the time this race is run it will be extremely testing which only plays into the hands of DJELO who handles any ground and is progressing nicely. He won easily on his British debut and just missed out when up in trip last time. A mark of 129 seems fair with a lot more to come and he looks a worthy favourite. Depending how Venetia Williams has done throughout the day he could go off a lot shorter than 7/2.

Lightly Squeezed is the main danger if in the form of his run at Kempton last time in similar conditions. Harry Fry is in good form and he will go close here. Iceo could make up the places if fit enough to do himself justice back on softer ground.
