Kempton 1.30

This looks a really open renewal with TILE TAPPER looking like the right favourite. He ran a massive race over course and distance behind Remastered last month just falling short in second. Conditions will be very similar to that day and he only carries 1lb more here. It doesn’t look as deep a race as that so a similar performance will see him go close and I’m confident of big run under Bryan Carver.

Smarty Wild finished in third behind the selection last time and finished second in this race last year. He is slightly worse off at the weights but rates the main danger. Annsam hasn’t been the most reliable to follow but might be better on softer ground.

Warwick 1.50

I was really impressed with the way COMPLETE UNKNOWN jumped on chase debut at Ffos Las and he showed a good attitude to quicken clear in the closing stages. The second First Lord De Cuet is a decent yardstick and with Bowtogreatness 9 lengths back in third the form looks very solid. Paul Nicholls has won this for the last two years with Next Destination and Threeunderthrufive and a hat-trick looks to be on the cards.

Galia Des Liteaux looked a mare with a future bolting up by 9 lengths on chase debut at Bangor but she was subsequently pulled up behind Thyme Hill at Kempton after making too many errors and has enough to prove coming into this.

Kempton 2.05

Paul Nicholls and Nicky Henderson have dominated this race over the years and with the latter without a runner Nicholls will fancy his chances. That said I am going to take his pair on with PAINT THE DREAM who really impressed me carrying top-weight to win at Newbury over this trip. He has run in some of the top races but I feel Grade 2 in these softer conditions is ideal and he will go very well.

The favourite at the time of writing Pic D’Orhy looks the main danger after putting up two good runs over this trip to start the season (won both). He does have to give a couple of pounds to the selection though which will make for a great race.

Warwick 2.25

This is a cracking race. Any of 3 or 4 could win but I’m siding with the potential of SNAKE ROLL after that impressive 14 length romp at Newcastle on Boxing Day. He has won 2 from 3 over hurdles now and when he lost he was third behind Tahmuras who has subsequently won the Tolworth. He is getting better with experience and will ultimately be better over 3 miles in time but this could turn out to be a perfect test in deep ground.

Grey Dawning is still a horse I like a lot but he is favourite so no juice in his price. He toughed it out at Kempton last time despite having a good look around and will clearly run well. Knowsley Road has also looked promising so should also be involved.

Kempton 2.40

This a race I always look forward to and this years renewal is no different. With a maximum field of 20 set to line up I’ve had two bets in the race. OUTLAW PETER has really stepped forward over the break and started the season with a second in a Grade 2 at Chepstow before running out a ridiculously easy winner at Exeter last time. He is off a mark of 130 which looks good for this race and I am sure he will be a horse rated far higher in the future so will go well here.

Nicky Henderson has a tremendous record in the race and RATHMACKNEE could be under the radar at a massive price. He has won his last two races in and around this trip with an easy win last time. He was only raised 3lb for that which is enough to see him get a good weight here and he should outrun his odds. Charles Byrnes horses in handicaps are always noted and Green Glory will be popular after a comfortable win on his handicap debut. The British handicapper has put him up to 127 compared to the 111 he ran off in Ireland but you have to respect him and he rates a danger to all.

Warwick 3.00

A wide open renewal so I’ve taken two against the field. This will take plenty of getting in heavy ground and given LORD DU MESNIL has stamina in abundance I’m expecting a big run. He failed to fire in a couple of runs over in France last year but was back to form on reappearance when second to Le Milos at Bangor and back up in trip here freshened up since he should be getting competitive 3lb lower than his last winning mark.

The other one I want to chance is fellow 10yo IWILLDOIT who of course put in a heroic performance to win the Welsh Grand National by 9 lengths 2 years ago. We haven’t seen him since but he has gone well fresh and still has scope off his new mark here.

Warwick 3.35

This is actually quite a small field for a Pertemps qualifier with ASHTOWN LAD looking like the one to beat. He has run two nice races to start the season going well behind Remastered over hurdles before winning a Grade 3 chase at Aintree over fences. The win over fences means he is rated 144 over those obstacles so the 135 he gets to run off over hurdles looks appealing and he will take some beating if in the same form.

It isn’t a deep race with the mare Glimpse Of Gala and David Pipe’s Paricolor looking like the main threats at this trip in softer conditions. Both Ronald Pump and The Bomber Liston are good horses on their day but arrive here with a few questions to answer.
