Sandown 1.10

A top class days racing gets underway on ITV on Saturday with the improving TWINJETS looking to make it a hat-trick of wins over hurdles. He has won 4 from 5 in his career which includes two bumper wins and two hurdle wins the last twice. He had Twin Power trailing 9 lengths back in second at Plumpton last month and now handicapping I expect him to carry top weight to victory. He loved the step up in trip last time and should win.

Twin Power is gradually getting the hang of things and does get a stone off the selection but I’m struggling to see him reversing that recent form as the fav is still improving too. I Shut That D’or won at Wincanton last time but will need to jump better to win this.

Musselburgh 1.28

Bear Ghylls just hasn’t managed to transfer his hurdles form over fences and he was again disappointing at Uttoxeter last time. The opposite can be said of NOTLONGTILLMAY for Laura Morgan. He is a perfect 2-2 in this sphere and again was too good despite learning on the job over C&D last time. With the promise of more to come the hat-trick beckons despite this looking his toughest task to date.

Drumbear impressed making a winning chase debut at Limerick where he made all the running. He has more to come but it might not be as easy to dominate here. Halo Des Obeaux chased home Tea For Free at Newbury and is another to note in a good race.

Sandown 1.45

Dolos is down in grade and he will find this easier than chasing home the likes of Greaneteen and then Editeur Du Gite and Cube Negra last time but even still he is a 10yo now and is carrying 12 stone. I’m going to chance the younger legs of FRERO BANBOU for Venetia Williams. He has shaped encouragingly on all 3 starts this term and down another 2lb given the fact he won fourth time up last season he should run a big race.

Hard to pinpoint an exact danger but Dolos likely won’t be too far away. Perhaps it will be Eclair D’ainay who was beaten a length by the selection when they met at Lingfield around this time last year. Red Rookie should strip fitter and is also considered.

Musselburgh 2.03

A really open race over this marathon trip and I quite like one in here with TIDE TIMES arriving in great form. His form over 3 miles is rock solid with a second place and a win to kick off his season. He looks as though a further step up in trip will suit and only runs off 2lb higher than his last win. He looks a solid each way bet with jockey Fergus Gregory also in a rich vein of form with 2 winners from his last 6 rides.

Just Don’t Know is flying this winter and will see the trip out well but his best form is in heavy ground which stops me backing him here. Slipway is the danger to all even carrying 11 stone 11 pounds as he has won twice over similar trips recently and is thriving.

Sandown 2.20

I think as long as GERRI COLOMBE handles the ground then he will win this. It is surely a tip in itself that Gordon Elliott has opted to send him here rather than go to the Dublin Racing Festival and he should keep his unbeaten record intact bar any mistakes. He is an exciting young chaser who has won both starts over fences really impressing at Limerick last time. He has more to come and should put these to the sword.

Thunder Rock is still a horse I have on my radar despite defeat last time. He never really travelled that day and made too many mistakes but it wouldn’t surprise me if he managed to reverse form with Monmiral at a track that should suit if he rediscovers his rhythm.

Wetherby 2.40

We will probably get a small field for this and I think BALLYGRIFINCOTTAGE will be tough to beat and likely go off a short price. He made a really impressive chase debut at Haydock in a small field and likely has a lot more to offer with his best form over this trip. He ran well in the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham last year but Grade 2s look his level for now. Barring accident he should justify cramped odds.

City Chief briefly looked in trouble at Hereford before staying on strongly and should run well but O’toole might be a greater threat as he impressed beating Castle Rushen at Newcastle and is another horse going the right way over fences.

Sandown 2.55

I remember tipping the winner in this last year in the shape of Green Book so hopefully I can repeat the feat this time around. I really like REMASTERED to deliver the Pipe team another payday. He deserved to win as he did at Kempton last time and back over hurdles off a mark of 142 I think all is in place for another big run. His Aintree win on reappearance has worked out well since so it is hard to see how he won’t run well.

Given there are 15 horses heading to post I will also be backing JET OF MAGIC each way as I can see him running well for Paul Nicholls. He won by 11 lengths on return and has bumped into a couple of nice horses the last twice so might still be well handicapped.

Leopardstown 3.05

They continue to run scared of GALOPIN DES CHAMPS with Willie Mullins saddling 5 of the 7 runners. It really is an embarrassment of riches and you’d be foolish to oppose the favourite as he’ll be looking to win this before having a crack at the main event at Cheltenham next month. He seems to possess a perfect blend of speed and stamina and he should be a joy to watch here.

I am still a big fan of STATTLER despite him suffering defeat last time. He will be staying on well here and I know the market is suggesting it but he is definitely the one to back if you are looking at the market without the favourite.

Musselburgh 3.16

Paul Nicholls has a good record in this race winning it with the likes of Diego Du Charmil and Christopher Wood in recent years so I fully expect GRIVETANA to bounce back from a poor run at Newbury last time. They said the ground was too soft for her that day and if she bounces back to the form she was in then she has go close as this seems to be a very winnable renewal to me. That second at Newbury has worked out notably well since.

Donald McCain has won this before and has a live chance with Nayati who could prove the main danger. He has won twice either side of defeat to the classy Love Envoi and he will run well. If the yard also run Collingham he should be a place chance at least.

Sandown 3.30

Undoubtedly the most competitive race last of all on ITV Racing on Saturday so it won’t surprise you that I’ve taken two against the field. I know RAPPER is flirting with favouritism at the time of writing but I think that is with good reason. He really galloped clear impressively at Cheltenham last time and is clearly in a good place right now. A 6lb rise seems lenient and I’m confident he’ll run a big race again here.

Plenty of dangers but one I do like at a price is CASTLE ROBIN and I’ve decided to have an each way saver. He has unfinished business over fences and is a lot better than what we’ve seen the last twice. Freshened up he could end up surprising a few in here.
