Newcastle 1.50

I’m really looking forward to ITV on Good Friday! Just the 3 meetings on the day so feels like you can really focus on the racing without missing anything. I like SHAQUILLE in the opener and the money seems to be coming for him. He has won 3 from 4 for Julie Camacho and is clearly a promising colt. His form stacks up and if he has improved again he will take a bit of beating here.

Shouldvebeenaring was given a bit of a shocker last time and is better than that. He should bounce back and emerge as the danger but don’t rule out a big run from The X O either as I still think he can improve and he is a promising enough colt as well.

Newcastle 2.25

In what looks a competitive renewal BERKSHIRE ROCCO looks a worthy favourite. His form at this marathon trip is amongst the best on offer and has the beating of a few of these based on the last run over course and distance. He likely has more to come at this trip and will take some beating.

Last years winner Earlofthecotswolds will be a tough nut to crack again from the front but I feel he may not be as good this year at the age of 9. Fleurman could go well with solid form at the trip and likely plenty of improvement to come. Of the rest Barenboim has won 3 of his last 4 and might be a little underestimated in what looks a pretty deep race.

Lingfield 2.40

The eye is immediately drawn to the unbeaten BREWING here and I’m keen to keep him on side. With Tom Marquand still in Australia Ryan Moore has been booked for the ride and this son of Showcasing should be capable of bringing up the four-timer. He still looked far from the finished article last season and with more to come stepping up to a mile for the first time he should be hitting the line hard.

Aussie Banker took his form up a few notches to win at Kempton and Wolverhampton before going down just a neck on final start. He likely has more to offer and might be the danger. Power Of Darkness is quite a big price though and might be a touch of value to hit the frame as he didn’t shape badly beaten just a length at Newcastle last month.

Newcastle 3.00

With both Forest Of Dean and Harrovian running below par in the Winter Derby I am going to take a chance and take them on with NOTRE BELLE BETE. He has been running well in some decent handicaps and this looks the next logical step. He doesn’t have that much to find with those at the top of the market and looks overpriced.

If Forest Of Dean and Harrovian bounce back to their best they are dangers to all of these but they are priced accordingly. Freescape might be seen in a better light in this grade after being out of his depth over in Meydan. He could go close now back in calmer waters here.

Lingfield 3.15

Plenty of chances in this but I’m going to side with LAHEG given he went down just a head at this track last month. He had won 2 from 3 prior to that and still looks open to further improvement. He is lightly raced and is just a 4yo so definitely looks worth siding with. He will need to get a good trip but at around 5/1 that looks a fair price.

The danger could be Tolstoy who was a good fourth at Wolverhampton last month and comes here mega fit. He has rarely run a bad race and should get involved. Adeb has won 2 of his last 4 now and could have more to offer as well so looms as a threat as well.

Lingfield 3.15

Laheg 5/1 each way

Newcastle 3.35

After his seasonal reappearance last month I have been looking forward to BERKSHIRE SHADOW running again. He won a Listed race at Wolverhampton really nicely to start the season and this looks like another winnable race. He is used to running in Grade 1s so he could easily take this race before stepping back up into Graded company.

The main danger looks to be Positive who comes here seeking a hat-trick after two wins in handicaps. He has a bit to find on the selection but will have his say in this. Chichester and San Andreas could go well if at there best but like Positive they will have to improve.

Lingfield 3.50

This is arguably the most competitive race of the day so I’m going to chance OBSIDIAN KNIGHT at a decent price. He is down near the bottom of the weights but has been a steady improver all season. He won nicely at this track back in January and has acquitted himself well in defeat since. He clearly goes particularly well on the AW and could surprise a few here.

Plenty of dangers likely headed by Diderot who carries top-weight here. He went down three-quarters of a length to Zealot last time though and the selection was beaten a length and a half by that rival so on collateral form that makes the selection a massive play at the weights.

Newcastle 4.10

I don’t think any of these will prove to be as good as Highfield Princess was after winning this last season but it does look a good race between MANAAFITH and Queen Aminatu. The former has the fitness edge as she has been running regularly since December. She has won 6 of her last 7 runs with an impressive win last time at Lingfield. She had a lot of ground to make up but did it with ease and the turn of foot makes her the one to beat.

The impressive Queen Aminatu has done little wrong on her last few runs and is clearly talented but it is hard to know how fit she is on her first run since November. All the others have a bit to find on form with Aramis Grey looking best of the rest.

Newcastle 4.10

Manaafith 5/4 NAP

Newcastle 4.45

I have taken the stance on this race that Annaf is just way too short. He has won his last 3 and is clearly progressive but I get the impression he might be a bit vulnerable given he has been on the go for a while now. I might be proved wrong but I think he’ll need everything to drop right. I am going to HARRY’S BAR play at a double-figure price. This horse is seriously talented on his best form and I don’t think he did much wrong when third to Berkshire Shadow last time. He won prior to that and is clearly in good nick.

If Annaf does flop then Diligent Harry should threaten. The saddle slipped in France and he is a very talented sort. I am surprised Vadream is as short as he is as while he was obviously impressive at Doncaster that came in heavy ground and this will be a very different test to that.
