Fairyhouse 2.40

Willie Mullins has a cracking record in this race and at the time of writing has the top 3 in the market. BLOOD DESTINY looks his main hope despite a poor run at Cheltenham. He is held in high regard and they hinted before Cheltenham that he might be still improving and will be better with racing. He never travelled at Cheltenham and based on his form prior to that he is better than that running. He has first-time head gear here which is likely to help him concentrate and looks the one to beat.

Gust Of Wind finished in front of the selection at Cheltenham and is clearly well thought of as well running in two Grade 1s this season. He is yet to get near winning though meaning the main threat could well be stablemate Tekao. For me he should have run in Graded company at the Festival but ran in a handicap instead finishing down the field. He made a mistake that cost him and will likely be seen in a better light in this smaller field.

Charlie Appleby won this back in 2018 with Dathanna and has two nice types lining up. I actually like RAINBOW SKY who is a bigger price of the pair. This Sea The Stars filly won despite showing clear signs of inexperience on debut and put away since is likely to have improved plenty. The form hasn’t worked out amazingly since but it was quite a striking start and she could be a really nice prospect going forward.

Dancing Goddess also won on debut and could be the danger to give the yard a 1-2 in this. She is by Dubawi and she hit the line hard over 7f here suggesting the mile will be a big plus. Of the rest Running Lion is eyeing up a hat-trick and she could be a nice enough type in the making so is also respected in a race that will be worth watching back a few times.

A really wide open handicap where it usually pays to be carrying a lower weight. UNANSWERED looks appealing carrying 10 stone 3 for Tony Martin’s yard who know how to get one ready for a handicap. He won nicely at Cheltenham in November before a rare poor run at Leopardstown in December. He bounced back with a good run at Navan last month which should leave him spot on for this and he will go well at an each way price.

Cadatharla is favourite at the time of writing and you can see why people would fancy him to win this after two nice runs on his handicap starts. He won at Naas before just missing out at Fairyhouse last time and a 5lb rise looks fair. He will be a danger to all of these. Hubrisko has been highly tried and catches the eye on handicap debut despite giving wight away to most of these. Of the rest Ottoman Style arriving on a hat-trick could well be in the mix again.

Not so much from a betting perspective but I am still really looking forward to seeing SLIPOFTHEPEN at Kempton on Bank Holiday Monday. This good looking colt was mightily impressive on debut to win by 5 and a half lengths and he holds all the entries you would hope to see at this stage including the Derby. I think he’ll make it 2-2 here before moving on to bigger and better things.

Legend Of Leros left his debut run behind to win at Doncaster and likely has more to come but is probably bumping into one. Royal Rhyme won on debut but the bare form of that would be a bit worrying as the fav looks potentially smart.

A really interesting race with the classy Monkfish returning after 2 years off the track with injuries. Paul Townend has opted to ride ASTERION FORLONGE over him though after he ran well on his comeback run at Thurles last time out. Before having a year off he was running in all the top races including the King George and Cheltenham Gold Cup. This race looks like the next logical step to work his way back to Grade 1 level.

Monkfish is the danger if anywhere near his best as he would be the best horse in this field on everyone’s best form. He will likely desperately need the run though. Fil Dor is hard to catch right as he clearly has an engine but was way down the field at Cheltenham last time and still needs to prove himself at the trip. All the rest need to step up on what they have done previously if those at the top of the market run to form.

This is definitely one of the tougher races of the day at Kempton to work out but I’m sticking with the winning machine that is SIMPLY SONDHEIM for George Boughey. He has now won 7 of his last 8 and was probably value for extra scoring over C&D 9 days ago. This is tougher up another 3lb but the handicapper might still not have a handle on him.

Plenty of dangers probably headed by Pride Of Priory who goes well at this track and is better than what he managed to show at Goodwood on final start last year. Sir Rumi was slowly away at Doncaster but came home nicely and is another one to note.

EASY GAME is back to try and make it a hat-trick in this race after taking the last two renewals. He has been kept fresh after beating Kemboy twice last year. His recent form over fences is 111011 with the blip coming in handicap company. He rarely runs a bad race and will be the one to beat here and I think he will land his hat-trick.

There are some useful rivals with Janidil classy on his day but is hard to catch right as he showed at Cheltenham last time. If he puts in a fluent round of jumping he is a live danger. French Dynamite usually goes well without winning and will likely do the same here. If Magic Daze decides to run with them this time she could prove a danger also but they all have the selection to beat.

It is hard to look past LAUREL here for John Gosden. This Kingman filly won her first two starts before bumping into Fonteyn in the Sun Chariot. She looks sure to do better as a 4yo and could prove a cut above this field. She is entered for a Group 2 at York next month and also in the Lockinge at Newbury which suggests they think she’ll comfortably be up to the task here.

If there is a danger it Ould be Sound Angela who has won at this track and wasn’t disgraced in Listed company when last seen having been slowly away. She’ll need to get away on terms here but after just 6 starts should have more to come.

Fairyhouse 5.00

This looks as competitive renewal as ever so I have had two in this at nice prices. I tend to prefer horses that didn’t run at Cheltenham and have been held back for this so AMIRITE is my main bet in the race. He was last seen in January running a nice race behind the favourite for this Thedevilscoachman. He gets weight from that rival here and has always suggested going up in trip will see him in an even better light. If he is better off for the extra distance off a nice weight he will go well here.

At a massive price CHAMPAGNE PLATINUM could easily outrun his odds after a nice prep run back in February in a very good handicap. He was 8th in the race last year and carries less weight in this years renewal. He had a run in March last year as well but I like how they have kept him fresh and with just under 10 lengths to find on last years run he could be well overpriced. Thedevilscoachman, Stumptown, Angels Dawn, Chemical Energy and a few other fancied runners all had tough races last month and I think it might just take the edge off them in a tough race like this. They are all classy sorts and would all be dangers if no worse for those runs but I have my doubts. Panda Boy might prove the main danger as he fell last time and may not have had a hard race as a result. He stays well and will surely be fancied off a mark of 140.
