Race 12 Churchill Downs 11.57 Forte (best price 11/4)

Smart colt who made it 6 from 7 staying on strongly to get up late and win the Florida Derby last month; still looks to be improving all the time and with more to come looks to have a great chance.

I can’t wait to see FORTE strut his stuff in the Kentucky Derby on Saturday night. He is a horse that has barely put a foot wrong winning 6 of his 7 career starts to date. He warmed up for this with a convincing win in the Florida Derby and I think given usual luck he will come out on top here. He should relish this test and I can’t see how he doesn’t hit the line best. Mage ran huge to get within a length of the favourite last time and has only had 3 starts so with more to come shouldn’t be easily overlooked. Tapit Trice has won 4 in a row since his debut third and beat Verifying last time so could also run a big race in defeat. Can’t wait for this one!

Race 8 Churchill Downs 7.46 Echo Again (best price 3/1)

Likeable colt who looked back to his best winning with a bit to spare at Oaklawn over this trip back in March; more to come after just a handful of starts and looks one to keep firmly on side for now.

Back in the winners enclosure last time ECHO AGAIN looks on good terms with himself and with more to come I think he could put in a big performance here. He is a colt on the upgrade and he should win this before being targeted at the top level. Gun Pilot won 2 of his first 3 and has been highly tried since but he is another colt that I feel has a bigger performance in him so definitely the danger. Kangaroo Court has won 3 from 4 and showed a good attitude last time so could run better than his odds suggest at least but this is a good race and there is definitely strength in depth here. General Jim is another one to note having been freshened up.
