There are some useful types lining up for this but Kingman filly TOTNES definitely catches the eye at a price. She looked back to her best winning readily at Chelmsford back in July and we have seen that form franked since with the second Mayfair Gold and third Wadacre Gomez both winning since. She then followed up impressively in a fiercely competitive race at the Racing League at Chepstow doing it with plenty up her sleeve.
She would have completed the hat-trick but for bumping into Balance Play at Newbury and I rate that form highly. She is racing off more a less the same mark and with the promise of more to come looks great value for this. Red Danielle is interesting but needs to improve and Whispering Words is also feared given she is so unexposed after just 3 starts.
Ascot 1.50
Emaraaty Ana is a short priced favourite for this but I think it is much more open than the betting is suggesting. I’m going to take a chance on CHIPSTEAD bouncing back to form. He was back out the doldrums to win stylishly at York earlier in the season and if rediscovering some form here could be massively overpriced.
I actually see Korker as the main danger as he won really well at Beverley last month. If he gets away on terms again he is clearly going to run well. Nymphadora was only denied a neck at Newbury and is another one entitled to get involved.
Newmarket 2.05
I know ZOULU CHIEF is a short price for the hat-trick here but it is easy to see why. That York win last time has been massively franked since producing 6 winners and given he remains unexposed if he improves again he should prove the answer.
Woodhay Wonder has won 2 of her last 3 and she might emerge as the danger as she impressed with how she got on top last time. Grey Gray let backers down last time but if bouncing back is another one to note.
Ascot 2.25
With 3 wins from his last 5 starts AL AASY looks the one to beat here. He came through strongly to win at this level at Haydock on penultimate start and then only missed by half a length at Leopardstown last month. He was given too much to do on that occasion and did look a bit unlucky. There is lots of pace on here so it should pan out more favourably and he is the most likely winner.
Israr was impressive beating Adayar but let backers down last time. If he bounces back he is still the danger.
Redcar 2.45
With form figures of 1112 it is hard to look past DRAGON LEADER as he is still open to improvement as well. He had Flaccianello behind the last day and is taken to confirm that form here. He should be able to go forward and get the lead and that should see him back to winning ways.
Kylian hasn’t quite lived up to expectations but would still have to be a player in this and might even emerge as the main danger. Action Point is another one to note if improving.
Ascot 3.00
It was a shame JUAN LES PINS never went for the Ayr Gold Cup but the ground just wasn’t suitable in the end. He has been running well all season and deserves to win another nice pot and I can see him running a big race here.
The danger is probably Commanche Falls who beat him at York and has won 3 of his last 4. Garrus wasn’t at his best last time but that was a tough ask and his form when second to Mill Stream in France reads well.
Newmarket 3.15
However you weigh this up it is hard to look past INSPIRAL as when she is at her best she should just be way too good for these. She produced just that to beat Big Rock in France when last seen and freshened up can follow up under Frankie.
Heredia has impressed this season winning her last two but would need to raise it again to even make a race of it if the real Inspiral turns up.
Ascot 3.35
Wide open renewal of the Challenge Cup to close out ITV on Saturday and initially I did like Baradar but with him out now FRESH must have a big shout of coming out on top. He has a very solid record in these big handicaps and he has caught the eye the last twice. Back at this venue he could improve again and the money coming looks significant.
Popmaster was impressive beating Aldaary in Listed company at Newbury and has to be feared. Quinault is a winning machine so this definitely has strength in depth. Hickory would also have a squeak if it panned out favourably.
