It would be great to see CODY’S WISH follow up last years win. After suffering defeat at Saratoga he was quickly back to his best at Belmont last month and he should have too much for this field. His overall form figures of 33311211111131 is unbelievable and hopefully he can come out on top again. Zozos has won 4 of his last 5 and he impressed at Churchill Downs last time so looks the obvious danger.

I can’t wait to see INSPIRAL strut her stuff Stateside. She has very much been back to her best the last twice finishing strongly to win in France and then win at the top level at Newmarket last month. She will enjoy the fast ground here and should prove the answer under Frankie. Warm Heart has won 5 of her last 6 starts and she will be the danger if bringing her best. At a bigger price Fev Rover could also be capable of a big run.

Goodnight Olive will likely be all the rage and that defeat to Echo Zulu at Saratoga was a big run so she should go well. I prefer SOCIETY at the odds though as this Gun Runner filly has really taken her form up a few notches recently and she was again impressive winning by over 5 lengths at Charles Town when last seen. She has more to come and might be worth keeping on side. Of the rest Matareya has a squeak but has ground to make up.

The progressive MAWJ can put her rivals to the sword in this. She has won her last 4 now and the form stacks up. She showed a great attitude to hold off Tahiyra at Newmarket and then made a winning start Stateside at Keeneland last month. She has a perfect blend of speed and stamina and should give Oisin Murphy a great spin. Master of The Seas impressed at Woodbine and could be the danger but Songline is also respected.

I do think this is more open than the betting is suggesting but even so IDIOMATIC must have a great chance. This filly has won 7 of her last 8 starts and she impressed again at Keeneland last month. Brad Cox has a great record in this race and so perhaps it is understandable that she is favourite but I did expect bigger than 2/1. Clairiere ran well when third in this last year and she could run well again. Adare Manor and Search Results are also noted.

Dual Derby winner AUGUSTE RODIN looks set to show why Aidan O’Brien holds him in such high regard. His only two flops this season have come on testing ground and he was back to something like his best winning at Leopardstown last time. He has still only had 9 starts so there could easily be more to come and I can see this test really suiting. King Of Steel is a serious danger but this is coming soon enough after Ascot. Mostahdaf is also feared.

With 3 wins from 4 starts the unexposed ARABIAN KNIGHT could prove the answer here. He knuckled down bravely to prevail in the Pacific Creek Stakes at Del Mar when last seen in September and leaves the impression he is capable of even better. His first two wins were impressive and it is no surprise to see this Uncle Mo colt favourite for the Classic. White Abarrio has won 2 of his last 3 and beat Zandon a street at Saratoga so looks the danger.

I think it might be worth chancing AESOP’S FABLES at a double-figure price. I have always thought a fair bit of this colt and it was good to hear Aidan O’Brien speak so positively about his chance here earlier in the week. He was only beaten a length behind Highfield Princess in France last month and if he manages to keep tabs on them could be finishing best. Plenty of dangers and I will be hoping Live In The Dream can go well for Adam West.

Santa Anita 12.00

I know ELITE POWER saw his winning run come to an end last time but he was beaten less than 2 lengths at Saratoga and had excuses. Back down to 6f with an emphasis on speed I’d be confident he can reverse that form. He is an extremely talented individual and he should be up to justifying favouritism. Speed Boat Beach was beaten just a head by Dr. Schivel on reappearance and if fitter might reverse that and emerge as the main danger.
