Doncaster 1.20

I know Knight looks set to go off favourite for this but I still think CHARYN is the one to beat. He placed in both the Irish Guineas and the St James’s Palace Stakes and finished the season in good form finishing third in the Celebration Mile behind Angel Bleu. He is a very solid colt who should give his running and go close.

It is a shame we don’t have 3 places but I still want to have something on GREY’S MONUMENT each way. He has improved with the blinkers fitted and goes particularly well in soft ground. He impressed winning at Kempton and has been gelded since and looks a little overpriced.

Bangor 1.30

A tricky handicap hurdle now but I do think UNCLE BERT can run well for Nigel Twiston-Davies. He was back to his best winning well at Wetherby last month and that form has already been boosted so a small rise might prove manageable. There should be a good gallop to target with Jungle Jack likely to push forward and that will definitely help the selection.

Pickanumber is on a hat-trick and back up in trip looks the biggest danger. Of the rest Cheddleton is a little overpriced and might be able to hit the frame back over hurdles.

Doncaster 1.50

The Brocklesby is always a guessing game with 2yos making their debuts but Amo Racing often target it and they won it back in 2022 with Persian Force and then came second last year with Valadero. They have MYSTICAL ELEGANCE who should have a great chance and is unsurprisingly top of the betting. She is a half-sister to several winners and should be forward enough to do herself justice on debut.

Plenty of dangers in a race full of unknowns. Rosydelight is bred to be useful and with Rossa Ryan booked could run a big race. Dukes Of Haather is another one who could easily take a hand.

Newbury 2.10

The front 3 should fight this out and I’m keen to side with the bigger price of those in SPIRITS BAY for Nigel Twiston-Davies. This son of Black Sam Bellamy has won his last 2 over hurdles and was impressive at Exeter last time. He has been hiked up 8lb for that but an initial mark of 118 was clearly lenient so he might stay ahead of the handicapper for now.

Into The Park is also on a hat-trick and has been well backed on both occasions. He has gone up 6lb and should go well but Kartoon And Co might pose a greater threat as Dan Skelton is flying and he should keep improving having run well when runner-up at Sandown last time.

Doncaster 2.25

The Spring Mile is always quite a tricky race to try and solve so no surprise I have taken two against the field. My first and main play is going to be TITIAN for Julie Camacho. This 6yo has course form having won here as a 3yo and he looks well handicapped back down to a mark of just 83. He goes well fresh and is still quite lightly raced too so lots to like especially at the price.

The other one I’ve got to back is ARTHUR’S REALM as he won the race 2 years ago. He is only 1lb higher this time around and didn’t run badly in the race to finish seventh off a 8lb higher mark 12 months ago. Both yard and jockey are in-form and he should run a big race. Plenty of dangers likely headed by Dirtyoldtown who handles testing ground and was in winning form when last seen last year.

Newbury 2.40

The way HELTENHAM travelled into it before finding more than enough to win by a couple of lengths over C&D when last seen was impressive and a 6lb rise should be manageable. The yard are still red-hot and I expect him to take a lot of beating.

Gunsight Ridge was back to form in some respects when second at Sandown last month but he did look a bit one paced and isn’t getting any younger. Eaton Collina showed a good attitude to prevail again at Wetherby but the yard are cold.

Doncaster 3.00

The money kept coming for ORAZIO in those big handicaps last season and while he failed to deliver he is still a sprinter with considerable potential. He won his first two starts last season so goes particularly well fresh and could show these a clean pair of heels. He remains lightly raced for his age and could easily progress again this term.

Baradar looked good winning at Ascot and then followed up at this track in September. He blew out on final start but could still have more to give. Montassib clocked a career best at York on final start and is another one to note but it might be hard to come from off the pace in the ground.

Doncaster 3.00

Orazio 7/2

BACK ORAZIO TO PLACE (2 PLACES) AT 6/5

Main danger Baradar

Newbury 3.15

I have been waiting to see PARTY VIBES out again as she was particularly impressive at Market Rasen last month. She made all the running and was going away again at the finish suggesting this step up in trip could easily unlock further improvement. An opening mark of 121 now sent handicapping should prove lenient and I think the hat-trick is very much on the cards with Alice Stevens claiming a handy 5lb again. There are a few that could go forward but I still think she’ll look to make all and if she gets into that rhythm again she’ll be tough to pass.

El Elefante has also looked promising and won as she was expected to at Ayr last time. If she improves again she could threaten. Larchmont Lass must also enter calculations.

Doncaster 3.35

I backed CHAZZESMEE for this after he won the Irish Lincolnshire last weekend. His trainer Fozzy Stack told Nick Luck he was going to go for it so thankfully I managed to get 16/1! With Awaal now out he is 7/2 and clear favourite for the race so I’m starting to get nervous as he has a serious chance. It is hard for me to tell you to back him at his current price but he handles soft ground and is progressive and is hard to knock. He has a 5lb penalty but that doesn’t bother me. If handling the quick turnaround he could land a famous double.

Lattam is definitely one of the dangers now with his new yard. The Gatekeeper ended last year on a high and it would be no surprise to see him improve again on return and run a big race in this.
