Kempton 1.30
I’m surprised SKY WARRIOR is so weak in the betting as he is right out to 16/1 now. He is the only winner in the field and while he has to carry a 7lb penalty he could still run a big race. If he continues to drift then it would be worrying so keep an eye on the betting.
Grandlad was only denied a neck on debut at Newcastle and could emerge as the main danger but it isn’t a race I’d be going mad in anyway as anything could improve.
Night Of Thunder filly CHOISYA was in winning form over this C&D when last seen and with the promise of more to come on reappearance she could take care of this field. Her form was steadily progressive and she deserves a crack at a Listed prize now.
Hard to pinpoint an exact danger but Julia Augusta missed by just a neck to her when the pair met back in November last year so might be the one to chase her home again. Many Tears and Mystic Pearl are also in with a chance.
Kempton 2.40
The Rosebery is often competitive but it has paid to look towards the top of the betting over the years and I feel that’s the way it’ll go this time around as OLD HARROVIAN must have a massive chance off a mark of just 93. This son of Sea The Stars had just one run as a 3yo finishing well down the field at Newmarket but improved plenty to win his first two starts as a 4yo notably impressing at Wolverhampton winning by 10 lengths. He struggled up to Group company on final start but now sent handicapping could easily improve again and his opening mark does look lenient.
Oisin Murphy is in the saddle and everything points towards a big run. Intinso made a winning return so has fitness on side and is the obvious threat. Laafi could also go well if fit enough.
Curragh 2.55
Aidan O’Brien has won 2 of the last 3 renewals of the Alleged Stakes so his sole runner Greenland would have to be respected but I do think WHITE BIRCH is the one to beat. He is still lightly raced having only had 7 starts and the pick of his form would be chasing home Auguste Rodin to finish third in the Derby. He was back to form in a Group 3 at Leopardstown on final start and given he goes well fresh could be worth chancing with the mud flying.
Crypto Force has been off the track for some 560 days but he was hugely promising when last seen having won 2 of his 3 starts so could be a fascinating contender. Maxux is another one in with a shout.
Kempton 3.15
I’m definitely in the NOVEL LEGEND camp at an each way price now. He is bred to keep improving with age and experience and given he is a C&D winner back in a handicap should run a big race. He won his first two starts last season so goes well fresh and appeals as one who could still do better this season.
Obviously plenty of dangers but perhaps Spirit Mixer at a bigger price might be the one to give him something to think about. This son of Frankel was progressive in the first half of the season a couple of years ago and is off an interesting mark here with a run already under his belt.
Chelmsford 3.30
It could be a tip in itself that Ryan Moore has chosen to come to Chelmsford instead of the Curragh. This pot is valuable and he’ll be hoping CAPULET holds all the answers. This son of Justify looked a nice colt last season winning on debut before bumping into stablemate Diego Velazquez at Leopardstown and then running well in the Royal Lodge. I just thought he looked a bit outpaced on his final start so he should come into his own up in trip. This is a good starting point and he is the one to beat.
Cuban Tiger has decent form to his name and is the obvious threat.
Kempton 3.45
Kingman filly DEVOTED QUEEN will be looking to remain unbeaten here for Godolphin. She was an impressive winner on sole start as a 2yo and with more to come with time under her belt stretching out to a mile she should justify cramped odds.
Ahlain impressed winning here on return and then ran creditably at Lingfield. Back at this venue she could be the one to chase this hotpot home.
ITV Racing Lucky 15
I have combined 4 horses running live on ITV Racing on Saturday to make a Lucky 15. This looks decent value. Pays 350/1!
2.05 Kempton Choisya 4/1
2.40 Kempton Old Harrovian 4/1
2.50 Chelmsford City Frankfreya 7/1
3.15 Kempton Novel Legend 4/1
3.30 Chelmsford City Capulet 6/4
3.45 Kempton Devoted Queen 11/10
4.05 Chelmsford City Roxanne 11/4
Winning distance – 1.25 Lengths
