Ayr 1.15
Sans Bruit would have to be feared turned out quickly as he was impressive last time but a 10lb hike certainly makes life tougher. Willie Mullins brings UNCLE PHIL over and I’m keen to chance him in opposition to the favourite. This Walk In The Park gelding won in good style at Fairyhouse last time and I was impressed with his jumping. He is 11lb higher but is open to stacks of improvement and could be the one to beat.
Sans Bruit is the danger but Persian Time could run well too as he is only up 3lb for that Kempton win last month and the runner-up ran well yesterday to boost the form somewhat.
Newbury 1.30
This looks between the top pair in the betting and ARREST is probably the one to side with. He looked a good prospect winning the Chester Vase on reappearance last year and was back to form to win the Geoffrey Freer Stakes here later in the season. He ran a big race runner-up in the St Leger on final start and likely has more to come so no surprise to see him favourite.
Hamish is obviously a classy operator and he has won his last 4 now but he is definitely better with more cut in the ground and he is not always at his best on reappearance. He is an 8yo now too so might be vulnerable to younger legs.
Ayr 1.50
The money is really coming for HITCHING JACKING and I think he could be hard to beat. He looked good winning at Uttoxeter last season and then showed a good attitude to follow up at Wetherby. He hasn’t won since but he has run some big races in defeat and he could be well handicapped off a man of 125 here. He is still unexposed over this trip so I’m expecting further improvement.
Quite a few dangers in a race like this probably headed by Deeper Blue who has caught the eye the last twice. At a bigger price Inch House could also run a big race if bouncing back to his best.
Newbury 2.05
I’m surprised RELIEF RALLY is as big as 3/1 here as I’m confident she is the one to beat. She was impressive as a 2yo winning 4 of her 5 starts and hit the line hard up to 6f for the first time on final start. She goes up another furlong for her reappearance and looks a good bet to complete the hat-trick.
Regal Jubilee blew out on debut but bounced back to win her next two and is clearly a nice prospect as well so should be the danger. Not just a two horse race though as Folgaria brings unknown potential to the table and if progressing again could run well. Topanga impressed me at Kempton but might be a longer term project.
Ayr 2.25
I’m hoping this will be L’EAU DU SUD’s day in the sun. This 6yo has really taken his form up a few notches recently chasing home Iberico Lord in the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury and then going down just a length to Absurde in the County Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival last month. He is 3lb higher here but isn’t done improving yet and with a bit of luck will land a valuable pot for his trainer to help in the trainers championship. I think he’ll love a well-run 2 miles around this track and it is no surprise to see him favourite.
Favour And Fortune is still capable of better and wasn’t disgraced in the Supreme behind Slade Steel so looks the biggest danger. Benson isn’t straightforward but might be a big price to hit the frame.
Newbury 2.40
I’m keen to side with the unbeaten ZOUM ZOUM on return. This son of Zoustar didn’t put a foot wrong as a 2yo and if handling this better ground on return should take a lot of stopping. He promises to make an even better 3yo and will likely be a warm order here.
Ballymount Boy ended last year on the up winning at Doncaster and with the promise of more to come could be the one to chase home the favourite. Army Ethos is another one with potential so also respected.
Ayr 3.00
This is fiercely competitive but I do think LARCHMONT LASS has a great chance of winning it for Paul Nicholls. This 6yo is lightly raced for her age and improved to open her account at Wincanton back in February and would have gone closer with a better run through when fourth in the EBF Final at Newbury last month. She runs off the same mark and goes up in trip so I think there is lots to like.
Coco Mademoiselle can look very classy from time to time and she did impress at Chepstow last time but her opening mark is no gift and she might need to improve again back up to 3 miles. I wasn’t convinced by her over this trip at Ascot so I have my doubts. A Penny A Hundred might be a bigger threat now going handicapping.
Newbury 3.15
The way LATTAM came home in the Lincoln was eye-catching and with that under his belt he must run a massive race here off a 3lb higher mark. He is proven in these big handicaps and granted usual luck in-running should be the one finishing best under Ryan Sexton. He is still lightly raced and on just his second start for Julie Camacho could easily show further improvement.
Tons of dangers possibly headed by Navagio for James Horton. This horse did well over in Ireland and I thought he shaped well when third in the Lincoln last month. He was short of room in the closing stages and ran on well. He will be sharper now and that is the form I expect to play out here.
Ayr 3.35
I put GIT MAKER up at Cheltenham at a massive price and he ran a cracker to pull clear with a handicap blot in the shape of Inothewayurthinkin. The latter has followed up in Grade 1 company since so the form looks strong and off a mark of 133 he looks handicapped to have a big say in this. He just seems to have a relentless way about him and this test should suit. He is more unexposed than most and I’m confident of a big run.
Whacker Clan finished 18 lengths behind the selection at Cheltenham but might be the danger. He likely has more to offer too off this mark so must be considered. Mr Incredible again unseated in the Grand National last time but still has to be respected if staying on his feet. Spanish Harlem is another interesting contender who could easily get involved.

Main danger Whacker Clan but look out for Mr Incredible and Spanish Harlem
