York 2.15
Horses for courses! MARHABA THE CHAMP is a perfect 2-2 at the Knavesmire and that form beating Bague D’or over C&D last year looks decent now. I know he failed to give his running at Newmarket on final start but I’m willing to put a line through that and with the ground perfect I think everything is in place for a big run on his reappearance. Buick has been booked and they’re clearly expecting a big performance.
Klondike has only had 4 starts and given a wind op since last seen if he improves on return he could emerge as the danger as the market is suggesting. Crystal Delight is also feared after impressing at Epsom last month.
York 2.15
Marhaba The Champ 4/1 NOTEBOOK
Main danger Klondike but look out for a big run from Crystal Delight too
Again I’m not sure why this race is live on ITV on Wednesday but there you go. MANUELITO looks to have an obvious chance for David Pipe. He won nicely at Wincanton having travelled best and that form has already been given a boost with the fourth Al Sayah winning since. He goes handicapping now but likely has more to offer yet.
Kansas Du Berlais has finished runner-up the last twice and ran well beaten just half a length at Fontwell last time so looks the obvious danger. Bucephalus is also in good form and is another one to note.
York 2.45
Plenty of sprinters you’ll be familiar with lining up here and the vote goes to the 7yo ABERAMA GOLD for David O’Meara. He is coming back down the weights and has run well the last twice. He won over C&D last season off just a 1lb lower mark and if this pans out favourably he will be bang there and at a decent price too.
Plenty of dangers in a race like this and Lethal Levi goes well here having finished just a neck second in this last year. He should run well again back sprinting with a run under his belt. Chairmanoftheboard has been catching the eye as well so also has a chance.
York 2.45
Main danger Lethal Levi and also watch out for Chairmanoftheboard
York 3.15
I’m keen on SPYCATCHER going close here for Karl Burke. I have had my eye on him for a while and with Ryan Moore booked today could be the day. He caught the eye going down less than a length on reappearance in the Abernant and he has run well at this track in the past. He should appreciate the gallop they go here and if he gets the gaps he will have a massive shout.
Montassib has won his last two and has always been highly regarded. This is his toughest test to date but you wouldn’t rule out another big run. Mill Stream was second to Washington Heights in the Abernant so is another one expected to be in the mix.
York 3.45
The way FRIENDLY SOUL won the Pretty Polly was really impressive. She bulldozed her way to the front and tanked through the race but still had more in the locker to see it out strongly and fend off the useful Kalpana. The third was 12 lengths back so it was visually impressive. She has more to come and is hard to oppose.
Classical Song impressed at Sandown on second start but let backers down at Newmarket. If bouncing back she is the likely danger. Mayfair will appreciate stretching out to this trip but still needs more.
There are some nice horses lining up for this but THURSDAY’S CHILD is 2-2 herself and she really impressed me with how she won at Pontefract last time. She stayed on strongly through the line and should relish going back up to 7f. The horse she beat Mostar Dreams has run well to finish third since so the form has a bit of substance too.
Obviously plenty of dangers likely headed by Dark Angel colt Fire Demon. He has won 3 of his last 4 now and impressed last time. Back on turf he should run well. Elmonjed is another one who could be a nice prospect.
York 4.15
Thursday’s Child 14/1 each way LONGSHOT
Main danger Fire Demon and Elmonjed could be quite smart as well
York 4.45
This is a bit of a guessing game and I’ve decided to take a chance on debutant AGAINST THE WIND for Kevin Ryan. There seems to be a good word going around for this colt and he certainly looks the part on paper. If you couple that with some eye-catching entries he may well be smart enough to make a winning start.
Richard Fahey is hitting form so Shadow Army is also feared. He is making his debut too but is bred to be fast and will be primed. Station X is probably the most eye-catching of those with a run as that Musselburgh form has been boosted already with the third Do It Now winning next time out.
York 4.45
Main danger fellow debutant Shadow Army and Station X is also respected
York 5.20
It’s the lucky last now and I’ve opted for another double-figure price in GIBSIDE for Tim Easterby. He wasn’t running badly towards the end of last season and goes well at this venue. He won over C&D off 1lb higher last year and despite lacking a run I think he can get in the shake up.
Dancing In Paris missed just a short head at Lingfield last week and if handling the quick turnaround back up in trip could be the danger. Dark Moon Rising is another one who could be lurking bac at this track.
York 5.20
Main danger Dancing In Paris and also look out for Dark Moon Rising too
