No surprise to see Group 1 winner LIVE IN THE DREAM a warm order for this. He was beat just half a length in the Group 2 Temple Stakes on return over C&D so back down to Listed level here with that under his belt he looks the way to go.
When he won the Nunthorpe last year he was quickly into stride and he showed a good attitude to see them off and I’l be hoping for similar here. Believing is a filly who still has potential and if bouncing back looks the likely danger.
This is wide open so it won’t surprise you that I’ve taken a chance on one at a price in the shape of MADEMOISELLE for George Scott. This Blue Point filly was down the field on debut at Newmarket but that wasn’t without promise and then improved to get within a length of victory at Thirsk last time. Maw Lam was the winner of that race and she is favourite for this race so 12/1 about the selection just looks too big.
Maw Lam can improve too and from a good draw must have a decent chance and is the danger. Over Spiced scored at Leicester last time and with more to come is another one that can get competitive.

Mademoiselle 12/1 each way LONGSHOT
Main danger Maw Lam and at a bigger price Over Spiced too
Haydock 2.25
I’m surprised Divina Grace is 5/2 for this as that looks mega short to me. There are 4 or 5 in with a shout here and the one I like is KNIGHTSWOOD at a decent each way price. He might want a little further than this but I thought he shaped really well when a close-up third at Doncaster and he wouldn’t need much more on that to get seriously competitive in this.
Divina Grace should run well but she is short enough and perhaps a greater threat will come from Iron Lion with Jamie Spencer up. He let backers down at Newmarket but won impressively at Doncaster before that so must have a squeak.
Beverley 2.40
Despite showing clear signs of inexperience on debut MOVING FORCE still managed to come through strongly late to win readily by a length. He showed a nice change of gear and with further improvement to come could prove hard to beat. Richard Fahey has been in red-hot form too and hopes will be high as I know they consider him one of their better 2yos.
Wathnan Racing have obviously been on a spending spree and they have another intriguing newcomer in the shape of Shareholder for Karl Burke. He was an expensive breeze-up purchase and it’ll be interesting to see what the market makes of him.
Haydock 3.00
I’m willing to put a line through that final run as a 3yo from SEA THEME as she sweated up badly beforehand and clearly didn’t give her running finishing nearer last than first. Her two wins prior to that blip were promising including at Listed level at York. She has the size and scope to make into a decent 4yo and if she improves again she could have a great chance in this. She likes to race on the pace and that could prove beneficial here especially as there is quite a bit on from the likes of Miss Cantik and Night Sparkle.
Sapphire Seas is the one I fear most as she just did too much at York and should run better than that here. Queen Of The Pride is still unexposed and is another one to note too.
As competitive as this looks I do feel it is between the top two in the betting and preference is for TROPEZ POWER following that York run. He still shaped as though he was in good form and was only actually beaten 4 lengths at the line. His win at Southwell before that is decent form and off the same mark as last time should have a good chance of getting back in the winners enclosure.
Billyb is the one I fear most as he should strip fitter from that reappearance fifth at York which was a good run as well. That form ties in with the selection as he was narrowly behind Riot. Waiting All Night has an each way squeak but he’ll need everything to drop right.
Haydock 3.35
I really fancy WITCH HUNTER to run a big race here. He looked a classy animal winning at Royal Ascot and then the Hungerford at Newbury last year. He has been slowly coming to the boil this season and that was a good run to finish third behind Audience in the Lockinge last time. This is obviously easier and the drop back to 7f is expected to suit as well.
Ramazan keeps on knocking on the door and was only beaten a head at Ascot so could be a danger. Tiber Flow should still be capable of better and is another one I expect to get competitive at least.
